i hope my last post did not alarm you. i'm sorry if it gave

you the

wrong impression.....i am 55 years old. i can't remember when i

started suffering with achalasia but it was at least 20 years. but it

progressed very slowly. it was about 8 years ago that i started having

real issues. before that i only had trouble with certain foods and

didn't know why. like i couldn't swallow raw veggies. i started

getting real medical advice around 7 years ago. i started looking into

a myotomy around a year ago but couldn't find anyone where i live (las

vegas) that had done many of them. the best hope i had here was

someone who had done 10 in his career. i didn't feel that gave me a

good chance of success because everything i have heard or read said

that experience is very important in this surgery. when my surgery

became an emergency is when i went to ucla and the surgeon gave me a

very slim chance of the myotomy working because my esophagus was

grossly deformed by now. so that's when i ended up choosing the

esophagectomy option.............if you have any other questions, i

would be more than happy to answer them.

good luck, sandy

patrick understands the neccesity of these tests and loves his hemo- onc. i have

another daughter who is 25 almost 26 and she has a 2 1/2 year old he is the

bright star in all of this as he jusst loves pat and it is mutual.pat compleated

high school when we lived in jersey, my home state. he received a regular

diploma as his high school that paired special ed students with regular and

gifted students. that was a great program it helped with his social skills. pat

has always been outgoing but has a problem with saying things at the most in

approiate times.he is good hearted and some people have taken advantage of this.

i love him and his sister, but she really can't seem to grasp the reality of the

situation and sometimes we have had shall we say " discussions " about his all

around situation.his dad is another story, we are divorced and he is now coming

to terms with this illness. some days are better than others, i have my therapy

cat lovey to help with

the stress. she is up on this computer right now. as i have said before, wy

praayers are with you and jimmy on this journey.love peggy bieber
