Guest guest
HI Donna, I'm always amazed at how different we all experience side effects from our drugs. I was dx in July 07, started Glivec end of Sept and then had a roller coaster on/off ride for the next 10 months. When I was able to take it, I had extraordinary results. So then in August 09 I commenced Tasigna and have been PCRU since. I never had any problems on Tasigna - felt like a breath of fresh air, but this year have started getting " niggly " things happening like folliculitis and itching of my scalp, some eye oedema and blurring and it really doesn't agree with my gut. However, overall I am still very happy! For the scalp itching I tried Neutrogena T/Gel, but had no affect and I have since been using an Australian made organic antidandruff conditioning shampoo which I find works well. It is very frustrating with the itching, but I am lucky to have never experienced any sort of rashes/itching previously. I am 53 now and I can see that I have less hair and body hair, however I am also going through menopause and that can cause hair loss also. I now only take 400mg of Tasi in the morning and alternate days 200mg at night, this is working for me, however I have been PCRU for a significant time. At this time I am pretty sure there isn't a PK test to test the serum level of Tasigna. I would be concerned if you have yellowish eyes as Tasigna can cause problems with the liver and you should seek medical advice as this is a side effect listed in the brochure that comes with Tasigna. How often do you get your bloods done? I have raised GGT and ALT levels, but otherwise no problems. Cheers -- [ ] HELP!! I am so freaked out after 3 mos on Tasigna my hair is falling out!!!!!!!!!! I noticed that the hair on my legs and under arms was not growing. My hair is fairly long, my thinking is, if its not growing and falling out, I am going to be bald. I am having nightmares about this. Did this happen to anyone else?? I also have a very itchy head. I am on 800 mg a day and I think it is too strong for me. I have told my Onc that when my BCR/ABL tests come back on Tues if I am at zero I intend to go down on this dosage he indicated that he didnt agree.... hm we will see. I was not yet on zero after 3 yrs on Gleevec hence the change (I know you dont agree with this Zavie) but my QOL was fairly poor too. My QOL is so improved although there have been ups and downs over these last 3 mos my fatigue level is much better. I also have sore eyes that are quite often yellowish. Should I have some sort of test done to test my levels of absorption (Lottie question). Love to all Donna Berry x ======= Email scanned by PC Tools - No viruses or spyware found.
