Guest guest
I hope your daughter is okay, Jessie. And the rest of you are all right, too. We (Karrie and me) just got home. It took us 2.5 hours to attempt a 15 miles trip. We had started for Carbondale to see Kate, but quickly turned back. The rain is in blasting sheets. I have never seen it rain this hard. A tree came down across all four lanes of traffic less than 10 feet in front of us. Cars were flooded out, roads closed and trees down all over. My car almost died 2 times in deep water. I can truly say I have rarely been this afraid. I got home to find my front yard under about 6 inches of water, with a good 4 inches of water inside on my new laminate flooring in 3 rooms. So, I'm off with a bucket and mop to try to salvage what I can. Sue mom to Kate 18 and Karrie 12 w/ds and mild autism > > > **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? Her power went off at 8:30 last night, along with most everyone else, several million customers and it got pretty warm today. With all the other problems of no power, and they say it may be a week or two. Residents of Houston were told to stay at home if they could because last time there was gridlock on the highways and 100 or more people died, trying to get out of town. So they hoped to avoid that. Of course a lot of people refused to leave Galveston and low laying places on the mainland and endangered other people in rescuing them. No one knows yet how many may have died. I stayed up all night last night checking conditions on the computer and TV and talking to her several times to keep her in touch with the world. She said the ground all over is covered with debris, mostly from trees and she thinks there is a tree on her garage but it blew and rained all day today and she wasn't sure about that. She and her family, which consists of 2 big wonderful dogs are all right so that is a relief. A big storm like this is scary. To top it off we had tornado warnings last night , there were several touch downs around but we were all right. I was too tired to contend with it so I got the cats in their carriers and we ate supper. I've been concerned about Granny and too, and Austen probably isn't far enough away so I hope they are all right and visiting up a storm with family . But I just wanted you to know about my family too. Love, Jessie mom of and and Granny to Ginger and Snickers. Also mom to Misty and Toodles at home. ************** Psssst...Have you heard the news?
