To add to 's reply to Aviva regarding whether we should get the flu shot this fall -- It should also be said that the flu shot should definitely NOT be a live virus shot. Those are off-limits for CLLers.

My belief is that CLL patients are unlikely to respond, and thus

benefit from a flu vaccine, but there is no downside, unless you are

allergic to eggs. (People allergic to eggs should not be vaccinated

with the flu vaccine.) It is a killed virus, so you cannot get the flu

from the vaccine.

Ig is short for immunoglobulins, which is another name for antibodies.

There are five types in the body: IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE, and IgD. The IgG

and IgM are the most important. CLL patients tend to have low levels

of all antibodies (we only typically measure IgG, IgM, and IgA.) This

hypogammaglobulinemia (low antibodies in the blood) is most likely the

result of T cell defects in CLL patients.

When I was young I got the flu every year until I started getting the flu shot

regularly. I havent had the flu in 40 Years now.

I take Dr Hamblins advice and get the flu shot twice in the winter about 2

months apart. My oncologist gets frustrated with my not folloing his advice of

only getting it once. However I would take it every month if I thought there was

a chance of it saving my life.

The following, and more, can be found at:

http://cll.acor.org/pp%20Flu%20shots.htm

"There is one strategy that has been shown to double the response rate to vaccines: Take Ranitidine (ZANTAC) 300mg twice daily for 90 days during the vaccination period. Have the flu vaccine on days 1 and 45 of the Ranitidine. This has not been confirmed or refuted, but an attempt to do so using a lower doses of ranitidine showed some effect but not a large enough one to be statistically significant. "

Has been discussed/debated on here previously - see

low dose naltrexone/msearch?query=%22flu+vacc\

ine%22 & submit=Search

Basically, there is no pure LDN issue with flu vaccines, it's more a

question of do you really want to inject yourself with mercury or

whatever else is in there. As you will see from that link, Dr Bihari

was against it.

Yes, but not because it conflicted with LDN, as I recall. He had other reasons which we all discussed at length here a few months ago.

Flu vaccine, like all vaccines is extremely toxic and damaging to the immune system. If you are ill, why would you want to further suppress your immune system and inject toxic chemicals into your bloodstream? Please do some research first! Dr. Mercola, Dr. Blaylock, Dr. , Natural News.Nonie

In the ears at the very beginning. Both ears and till there is no more bubbling.

Either no cold or mild and short duration. I would venture to say but not with certainty you could Google it and get full details. I may have it stored somewhere.

The germs multiply in the ears and spread.

Whoa there Nonie! There are a lot of opinions on this and with all due respect to your statements I will repeat my previous comments.

I don't know where you get that all vaccines are toxic and damage the immune system. For the very FEW people who have a reaction to anything in the vaccine, the benefits far, far, far outweigh the limited risks. Thousands would die without it, especially those who are already at risk - elderly, diabetics, HIV, cancer, etc. The amount of toxic compounds are miniscule at best. The modern day components are much safer than some of the concoctions of the distant past. There is a reason these components are in the vaccine, stability, preservatives, etc. certainly NOT for some sinister purpose or just mindless filler.

Like I said, it is up to all of us to take responsibility and decide what is best for ourselves. There are opinions on both sides of this, but I will go with the experience of years of millions of doses with decades of reasearch and study as opposed to a few opinions by some groups based on no or limited studies. I have HAD the flu and will never go without the vaccine again. Remember, it is a combination of the probable top 3 viruses, so no absolute guarantees, but extremely RARE danger. This is NOT the SWINE flu vaccine! Dn't take it if you are allergic to eggs.

Good luck and all.

Yes. Forget this unproven method and get a flu shot.Peroxide in the ears is good for helping get wax out, but there is no legitimate evidence of it doing anything to prevent colds or flu. Wash your hands, and stay away from sick people is your best prevention. Most viruse are passed from the hands or some airborne to the nasal cavities (much less the mouth - hostile environment). There are decades of research into this. The research by original doctor who promoted this peroxide thing in 1928 was pretty much dismissed. This was in the day before flu shots.

I have MS and have been getting the flu vacine every year for years and have had NO problems at all. I do know that if I get the flu that it will take me a real long time to feel good again.

Everyone needs to do what is best for their own body.

Of course you are all right! If anyone gets a reaction to this shot it is usually the first day or two, and usually the reaction is a MILD sensation similar to the flu - muscle aches, tiredness, feeling out of sorts, etc.

I will take this reaction any day to the real flu, which can kill you.

Forget about it and no need to worry!

Do you HAVE >MS< yourself???

HOW can you tell anyone WITH MS or any AI disease, with certainty, that it's OK to take the flu shot?

If Dr. Bihari says NO, that's good enough for me.

I had already made up my mind to NEVER take the FLU shot, not before my DX, not since taking LDN, and definitely not since hearing from other Dr's to NOT take it, LDN or not.

The Real FLU can kill you? Like getting hit by a car crossing the street in rush hour traffic? or a tsunami in India?

Anyone on LDN is already doing a lot better for themselves than people not on LDN taking the flu shot.

As long as there's controversy on a topic, which every route one takes is their choice and their consequences.

If Dr. Bihari said NO, that's Good Enough for me.

Re the comment about diabetics dying for lack of flu vaccine. I am diabetic, I use water yoga and magnets to control my sugar levels back into the normal level, I would not touch Flu vaccine with a barge poll, indeed I would experiment with LDN long before I took any other drug for diabetes. This does not mean I would refuse all vaccines but I would want some evidence I trust before taking anything, not just some marketing/ fear hype passed via my doctor behaving like a parrot.

Bob, I beg to differ with this being an unproven method. I have proved it many

times on myself and family and friends. No legitimate evidence of it working is due to the fact no one makes money off it, IMHO. More recently Dr. Mercola for one backs it up, as well as others. Say b4 yesterday I was a snottin and sneezin and that evening I used the peroxide and there was a train roaring in one ear from all the bubbling going on. The other ear some but not very much. Did the one ear 4 times b4 I went to bed. All cleared up yesterday morning.

The best is a strong immune system via good food and drink and LDN.

Everything else is just backup.
