Flu Vaccine

If I were you, I would do some extensive research on the flu

vaccine. You may use the CDC’s Adverse Event Reporting System and just review

the adverse reactions posted. And those are just the reactions that have been

reported. The flu vaccine contains a fairly significant amount of aluminum…which

is linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

For what it’s worth…the Children’s Arthritis Foundation

recommends that pediatric arthritis sufferers refrain from ALL vaccines, due to

the effects on their already compromised immune systems.

Larry,

Having MS does not make one an expert at information on flu vaccines.

Those with AI diseases are at increased risk of opportinistic diseases including the flu.

Yes, the flu can kill you. Many times a secondary pneumonia follows an acute onset of the flu. A lot of people die each year from this pneumonia.

There is a lot of misinformation on the web about the dangers of flu vaccines and other vaccines as well.

For example, since there was some ex-playboy centerfold who wrote a book about autism and a vaccine, a lot of mothers are not vaccinating their kids. The downside of this is we are seeing an almost epidemic of mumps, chicken pox and rubella. Nice decision, huh?

The CDC has studied side effects and secondary problems from vaccines and found pretty much zilch. No, they are not in the pockets of "Big Pharma" as some believe.

The only issue with the flu vaccine is if one is allergic to eggs or has had or has the DNA of Guillian Barre' syndrome. This is after YEARS of study and research and MILLIONS of doses. It is a risk vs benefit thing. I, and most all my medical colleages take the benefit of the vaccine. That should speak volumes.

While I respect Dr. Bihari's research and genius, not every research doctor is right on everything. Even Linus ing was pretty much disproven on vitamin C and colds.

Finally, I talked today with a multi-board certified infectious disease doctor. This guy is ultra-conservative in areas of giving too many antibiotics or other powerful drugs. But he has taken the flu vaccine himself for 25 years - this is a guy who sees the end result of many flu patients, and he has no financial incentive here.

We both agree that it is up to all of us to decide what is best for us and take command of our health care, but one should have ALL the facts and not make life and health threatening decisions based on limited information.

Best regards,

bob C

Dr. Bihari was ONE doctor that said NO. MY own doctors were the others, not just one of mine, but all that I see that I discussed it with, before and after going on LDN.

There's also MSG in those shots, and mercury. So it's more than just egg allergy. MSG affects MANY and they HIDE it in the ingredients!

To each their own... everyone must make their own decision.

If I could do it all over again I would NOT vaccinate my children at

daughter contracted crohns.

.... again, just follow the money trail.

I totally agree with you.

Google vitamin D and flu. Also take a good multivitamin and eat well

to support your immune system.

I don't know if this was just coincidence but the first, and only, time I ever got a flu shot was about 3 weeks before I first started having symptoms which eventually led to my diagnosis of MS. Kinda strange huh?

My assortment of docs over the years (since diagnosis) have always told me NOT to have another flu shot. I'm not one who normally gets the flu so maybe that's why. One actually told me that I may have had a reaction and that reaction may have started the MS Ball rolling. Maybe that was my trigger??

I just know I'm not taking the chance again. Maybe when I'm much older and in danger of the flu killing me but for now it scares me too much.

I think to vacinate or not to vacinate is a personal decision.Take Care,TonetteSPMSBeautiful Rocky Mountains, Colorado

I agree to some extent here, believe it or not. There is some evidence that thowing all these inmmunizations at us in a short time frame is problematic for children, and can lead to other problems. I understand they have newer timetables that spread out the immunization process. I hope all children are vaccinated for polio, at least....

Protesters Hold Signs That Read: " The State Doesn't Own My Body' "

Reporting

)

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (CBS) --

They're upset over an ultimatum from the health department.

Workers are being told to either get the swine flu vaccine or lose their

jobs.

New York is the first state in the country to mandate flu vaccinations for

its health care workers. The first doses of swine flu vaccine will be

available beginning next week. Much of it is reserved for state health care

workers, but there is growing opposition to required innoculations.

Health care workers in Hauppauge screamed " No forced shots! " as they

rallied Tuesday against the state regulation requiring them to roll up their

sleeves.

" I don't even tend to the sick. I am in the nutrition field. They are

telling me I must get the shot because I work in a health clinic setting, " said

a Small, a Women, Infants and Children health care worker.

Small said she will refuse, worried the vaccine is untested and unproven,

leaving her vulnerable. In 1976, there were some deaths associated with a

swine flu vaccination.

Registered nurse Mannino, 50, was also angry. He said the state

regulation violates his personal freedom and civil rights.

" And now I will lose my job if I don't take the regular flu shot or the

swine flu shot. "

_Should Workers Be Forced To Get Vaccinated? Comment On This Story!_

)

When asked if he's willing to lose his job, Mannino said, " Absolutely. I

will not take it, will not be forced. This is still America. "

The protest also shook Albany Tuesday. Hundreds of demonstrators demanded

freedom of choice. After all, as health care professionals they argue

they're already constantly washing their hands and aren't likely to transmit or

contract the flu.

Around 500,000 health care workers are slated to receive the vaccine.

" It's certainly their prerogative to voice their opinion, " said Dr.

Donelan of Stony Brook University Hospital.

Donelan said most in the medical community see the benefits and safety of

the shots and welcome them, and that hospitals must obey the law.

" Our hospital is committed to following the mandate to have our personnel

vaccinated, " she said.

The state said change was needed this year to save lives, typically only

about 45 percent of health care workers take advantage of voluntary flu

vaccines.

More than 150 institutional outbreaks of seasonal and H1N1 flu are

expected this year in hospitals, nursing homes and hospice centers.

New York and New Jersey will get their first doses of the swine flu

vaccine next week. It will be the nasal mist, not a shot.

Well here we are again, fall is here, newspapers are telling you where to get

your shots, and drug stores are now certified to give the shots and I expect

discussions about whether they are safe and who should have them rages on. I'm

sure there will be positive and negative responses to this post, but it is

public health news and everyone should decide for themselves whether they want

to take the risk. Everything you put in your mouth is a risk because of the

allergies that patients may have to certain ingredients. Some of the

ingredients themselves have come into question, but I live in America and we

still have a choice to decide whether it is right for us. To each his own and

please don't shoot the messanger. LOL. The shots this year will include 3

strains as noted below:

FRIDAY, July 30 (HealthDay News) --

" The annual flu vaccine for the 2010-2011 influenza season has been approved by

the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the agency said Friday. The yearly

vaccine protects against the three strains predicted to be most prevalent in the

United States. This year's shot includes protection against the H1N1 ( " swine " )

flu that emerged in 2009. The specific strains are:

a.. A/California/7/09 (H1N1)-like virus (pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza virus)

b.. A/Perth /16/2009 (H3N2)-like virus

c.. B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus

" Brand names and manufacturers for the vaccine are: Afluria, CSL Limited;

Agriflu, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics; Fluarix, GlaxoKline

Biologicals; FluLaval, ID Biomedical Corporation; FluMist, MedImmune Vaccines

Inc.; Fluvirin, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Limited; and Fluzone and

Hi Lottie,

Dr. Druker always tell his patients to get the flu shot, and that is good enough

for me. They want the shot to be 'inactivated' vaccine.

Also, this year there is a high dose version for those over age 65 and with

health issues.....I asked his nurse Carolyn if I should get the high dose shot

(with 3-4 x the dosage), I am under age 65 (close, just 63) and Dr. Druker

responded to just get the regular shot.

That's what I know.

Hi Lottie: I just went today for mine, and my arm is sore but otherwise fine.

I also got my Pneumonia shot.  They changed all the recommendations on that

also.  It has been 8 years since my last one, and my Oncologist told me she

wanted me to get it.  They say before your 65 and then once after your 65.  I

will just be 63 in Nov.  So when would I be due again or if at all.

I have had Pneumonia  twice, so I guess she was being cautious.

Its true everyone has to decide what to do with regard to the shots.

I just got my flu shot Wednesday. When I was diagnosed 2 years ago I got the

pnemonia shot and also flu. I was told to get the flu shot every year. I have

always had bad winters are far as sickness. I got pretty sick after the flu

shot last year, but aside from alittle nausea I feel fine after this last shot.

My love and prayers to all of you.

Hi All.

I was told by my internist that the the new 3 in one flu vaccine doesn't have

any live virus in it. He said that last year the H1N1 was given too quickly

because it was found that the same ingredients were in the flu vaccine. I

believe he said that people who have bad reactions might be allergic to eggs. (I

am gathering that it must be in the ingredients).Last year my internist insited

that my grandson and daughter, Robyn, get the injection for both, not the mist.

He said that the mist did have live viris in it. Therefore, that is what my

daughter and grandson did. Neither had any reaction. I took mine on Tues. and

had no reaction. Whateer you do, don't take the newest shot in mist form.

Hi:  I know all about the mist shot, and I would never do that.  They have

different combinations each year, and doing the 3 in one was a bad move on my

part.  I have scared a lot of people with what happened to me , and now they

said they are splitting up the time between a Pneumonia and Flu Shot.  Also

this year its a flu/H1N1 combination.  I think even if its not a live virus,

the compound used can be bad for some and no reaction for others.  Just glad

its over with, and I am getting better.  I have to say it lasted from Wed.

night through Friday.  Something really did not work right for me.

Whateer you do, don't take the newest shot in mist form.

your shots, and drug stores are now certified to give the shots and I expect

discussions about whether they are safe and who should have them rages on. I'm

sure there will be positive and negative responses to this post, but it is

public health news and everyone should decide for themselves whether they want

to take the risk. Everything you put in your mouth is a risk because of the

allergies that patients may have to certain ingredients. Some of the ingredients

themselves have come into question, but I live in America and we still have a

choice to decide whether it is right for us. To each his own and please don't

shoot the messanger. LOL. The shots this year will include 3 strains as noted

below:

by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the agency said Friday. The yearly

vaccine protects against the three strains predicted to be most prevalent in the

United States. This year's shot includes protection against the H1N1 ( " swine " )

flu that emerged in 2009. The specific strains are:

That is correct! The mist is  a live vaccine! So, if you are immunocompromised

or have CML I would reccommend not the mist!!!

Do any of you have any input on the pneumonia vaccines?

I am not really sure how " new " antibodies could be harmful.
