Guest guest
In my experience, if it is a company group policy, the deal is they typically take you, so long as you were insured under the previous policy, like there was not a lapse in insurance. In my experience, it has all worked out. My situation is similar with me being the patient, 20 yrs, same place, we had a chance, there were no dramas or is issues, if anything, I am happier. Hope this gives you some comfort. Cheers, Chris

Guest guest
Hi Peggy, You will be fine. My employer just switched insurance companies on us too July 1, 2010. The new company can not reject you because it's a group insurance. It may take some paperwork to get it all straightened out, but it will be ok. I'm in the process now getting a BMT approved. I'm sure glad it's not urgent! For all CMLer's - heads up - have the BMT approved before you NEED it. I did 5 years ago and by meeting with the BMT dr every 6 months, it continued for approval. But.....since we switched companies, it's like starting over. Patience! Hope this helps, Jackie S. --- On Thu, 7/22/10, peggybecker@... <margaretbecker@...> wrote: From: peggybecker@... <margaretbecker@...> Subject: [ ] Re; Insurance Date: Thursday, July 22, 2010, 4:04 AM  Hello everyone, I was wondering if you were ever faced with the problem I maybe. My husband is working for the same company for 20 years, and I was diagnosed with CML two years ago. I was told at the time by my Onc, that it was a good thing I had medical insurance, because if I didn't no knew company would insure me. We have had Horizon BCBS, and it's been wonderful. My husband was just informed that his company is considering switching to Oxford or Atena insurance. I am wondering if I will even be able to get insurance through these companies with my CML diagnosis. I am very worried and concerned if they won't take me on, where does this leave me. I am on Tasigna which is very expensive, and also RX for pain, depression, anxiety, nauseousness, sleeping pills, and migraine medicine. Please let me know if anyone has experienced a change like this and what has happened. I would greatly appreciate hearing as I am stressing really bad about this issue. Thank you, Peggy Becker
