Hi ,

the first bone marrow biopsy I had was exccrutiating and when when I got off the

bed, my right leg collapsed beneath me! But the second one was fine, with only

slight discomfort. The difference? The first one was done by a young

inexperienced doctor - she was in and out with that big needle like a blue-assed

fly! I was advised to make sure a nurse did the next one, which I did and it was

fine. So that's the lesson for next time. Make sure you ask for someone who

knows what they're doing.

I think the pain down your leg is probably due to slight nerve damage and it

should go away with time, mine did.

Best wishes, Shelagh

,

I have had 3 BMBs. The first one was in front of students. The presiding doc

walk another woman through it. It was fine. That same woman did it on her

own a 6 months later. THAT hurt. She didn't do it right. I hurt for months

and months afterward. That nerve down the back of the leg. The 3rd one,

different hospital was fine too.

It matters who does it.
