with the new Pegasus form of interferon, the side effects are way

less intense than they used to be.

I agree with you on the more worried before treatment. That was my worst

time of depression, it like you go thru denial, grief, than the fear of

treatment. Coping with all of that drove me to insomnia more so.

You can do this and handle your family life. Just get what you can together

now for backup in case you need it just so your mind is at ease.

And don't worry about your baby, you will be there for all the special

times. You may be tired and need a nap, but you will be there for all the

cuddles and giggles.

If you're not taking anti-depressants yet;you may want to dicuss it

with your doc now.And if you decide to have some,I believe that the

earlier you begin to take them(before tx)and it has time to start to

work itself into your system and you get use to it------the better.

My children are 10,8,and 4.All boys.I was like you.I don't want to be

a mean mom.And the meds help. The ribavirin I take in the evening are

the only things that bother me.I started taking them later

(thanks,Lynne)in the evening. And I need to get rid of this dragon.I

intend to whip it's butt all the way down to the ground.I don't want

to ever stop tx and end up sicker or even starting over.

was reffering to my wife and kids not wanting to be around me. For a while when I would come in the front door the kids, and hell, even the dogs would go out the back door. But God bless my Debbie, she would stand there and go toe to toe with me and stick out my riba rages and if it wasn't for that fact I think I would have gone crazy.

Thank you. I'm confident that I have the skill and talent necessary to be an asset to another company, but these days, that's not enough. It's tough out there, especially for 50 year olds. God will take care of me. I've been in many deep holes in my life and I always manage to crawl out to the light eventually -dz-

Sorry, if you don't include a part of the message, I don't have the memory to know what you are referring to. If I can hazard a guess, during treatment there were many times my wife didn't want to be abound me, I was aware enough to know that I wasn't fit to be around, but I still couldn't improve my disposition. -dz-

on Wednesday.

I hope you feel better soon.

[ ] catching up

Hi everyone, today will be my third day after cataract surgery and I still

have some blurry vision and a feeling of heaviness in that eye. The surgeon

checked it on Thursday and said everything went well. I see my own eye dr. next

Wed and hopefully the blurry vision will be gone and if not, he can explain why.

My legs are aching something awful, especially when I am laying down. The pain

doesn't seem to be joint related more like muscle pain and wonder if this is the

fibro or from my back. Hope I can catch up sometime this weekend on what has

been happening here.

Hi, June! Sorry that you are having so much pain in your legs. Maybe a

call to one of your physicians is in order?

My dad had cataract surgery in both eyes not too long ago and I think he

reported blurred vision for a few days after each one. Now he's better

than new in both eyes.

Hope you feel better and your vision improves very soon!

I'll tell you where to go!

Thanks Boo, I see my eye doctor on Wed. It seems a little better but not what I

expected. The operation itself is nothing and over in about 10 mins. I was

paranoid about someone touching my eyes so I was pleasantly surprised just how

easy it was.

I use a sharp knife and cut at the mark on the pill. I just use the edge at the

tip of the knife. Sometimes I may wreck one, but it is usually a go on the

first try. (n, 15,systemic) Also at 3.5mg's.

Catching up

Congrats to all that walked this weekend and raised soo much money

and awareness for JRA, im proud of each and everyone one of you!!!

WTG!!!

Alia, Congrats on Carolines last appt... finally shes getting much

deserved good news on these doctors visits :o))) Makes me so happy.:o)

Nick is doing ok... I did go ahead and taper again last thursday,

down to 3.5mg and he seems to be handling it soo much better that the

5 down to 4 taper. :o)) so we will spend a month at this dose and

taper again. I had to give Nick is MTX shot a day early last week, on

Thursday, so we could do labs on friday as I found out the clinic was

closed for labs on a weekend ( they do have urgent care there so I

thought it would be ok) The rheumy said it was ok to move it forward

a day. Problem was Nick was so tired after the bllod draw on friday

that he never made it back to school. That MTX sure does tire him out

the next day. He seems to be doing much better than he was a few

weeks ago :o)) We see the rheumy again on Thursday. This time we will

have the labs before the appt :o) never done it that wayt round

before.

I do have a quick question.. how the heck do you cut a 1mg prednisone

in 1/2 without turning it into a pile of powder??? I go though quite

a few before i manage to get a decent 1/2 to give Nick. ?? ive tried

a pill cutter, no go and a knife, anyone got any bright ideas??

Helen,

As you probably know, you can get the pred in 2.5mg tabs and 1mg

tabs. So you're covered for 3.5mg, 3mg, 2.5mg 2mg and 1mg. For the

1.5mg dose and the .5mg dose he will have in the future, maybe get

some of the liquid form.

we're just dropping by 1mg every two weeks, so luckily I won't have

to deal with that ---yet.

Hello Kathy!!

Thanks for welcoming me.. A few years ago I was without medical insurance b/c of my pre existing condition (I was not able to get a private policy).. Since I am self employed in the mortgage lending / real estate industry I was able to join the National Assoc of Realtor who happen to offer their members a Group Policy!! I say this not to promote the National Assoc of Realtors - but to let know that there may be an organization that you or your husband could get involved with that offers a Group Policy!! This was a life saver for me!!

Good luck and take care!! Ken.txbluebelle <txbluebelle@...> wrote:

Hello Group!Welcome Ken and Vonnie. I have just spent the last couple of hours reading over 200 posts! Wow Cam, and that was only about 10 days worth!Sad to say my husband has lost his job and tomorrow is my last day of insurance. It wasn't "full" insurance since pre-existing conditions weren't covered yet. So now I am back to square one minus one. Also, my husband had cataract surgery last week and hopes to do the other eye in a couple of weeks. We will try to keep him on a Cobra for another month.I would just really appreciate your prayers right now that he will find a job soon. It would be even better if it had insurance! I'm trying to be patient, but sometimes it is hard when you can't even go to a doctor for diagnosis or pain relief.I don't qualify for disability because I didn't work enough years. My

SSI application was put on hold or destroyed (who knows which) last March when he finally got a job. He earned too much for me to qualify for SSI. I don't have the energy or heart to start that all over again. Ken, as way of introduction, let me just say I'm 53 (at least for a few more days!), walk with a cane, and had surgery in 1967 with Dr. Harrington. I have had problems for years and was told it wasn't related to my scoliosis surgery. I do know I have disc damage below my fusion, but that's all I know for sure. I have shrunk 1 1/2 inches.I'm sure will be glad to have another guy in the group!Take care all, and good luck Lorrie! Kathy

Kathy,

Do you, at least, get Social Security Disability? SSI is different. Disability us not dependent upon income.

Just wanted to let you know this. You certainly will be in my prayers!

,

Congratulations.

This is truly something to celeborate and lamictal, it is great that you were

able to wean him.

Lamictal is also used as a mood stablizer for Bipolar and given my family

history of Bipolar, most drugs to stablize mood actually take the good mood

away and depress the system. Is it possible that also the absebce of lamictal

has something to do with Ronan's vocalization explosion, and his happy mood,

noticing his cibilings. Just a thought.

Best to you and your family.

I am glad to hear that you had a nice Valentine Day. I did too. I

love how God is always watching out for us. I realized over this

past four days that I am closer to my husband Dale than I have ever

been to anyone in my life. When my first husband died, I thought my

life was over. And now God has brought me such happiness and joy

with Dale. Since he lost his first wife too, we really have a sense

of what a great gift God has given us. Also, He brings me closer to

total healing every day. I want to thank you for all you have done

for all of us and especially for your sharing with me that if I

wanted to be closer to God to pray that He give me an unquenchable

love for Him---and He has! You are truly a blessing in my life!

As far as the fast, Dale and I are going to do a four day fast in

march. That will be hard enough! But I do want to share that we

both feel that fasting is helping us to dump toxins. I see where

Jordan Rubin is recommending fasts in his new book " The Great

Physcians' RX " I can't recommend this book enough. It is awesome!

Be sure to give us updates on your fasting progress and best of luck

to you!

Love, Kathy

Kathy,

You are such a special friend to me! Thank you so much for your kind

words. I am just so happy to hear that you feel so loved and have

that special bond with your husband, and have felt God's incredible

love in your life after all you have been through. I can't think of

anything more comforting than to feel God's presence right here with

me, and I am so glad you know that same presence! He is awesome,

isn't He?

I am excited to hear that you and your husband both have a fast

scheduled in March! And that Dr. Jordan Rubin's new book covers

that important detoxing therapy! I am very interested in reading

that book. I'll have to get it! I am mentally preparing for my

fast, which I expected to start today, but when I opened my

refrigerator door, I saw my leftover salad from last night and knew

I had to scarf it down before it was too gross to eat! So I will

start tomorrow instead.

I'll keep you posted. Thank you so much for you words Kathy. I

love you! I am so thankful for our friendship, and so thankful for

your faith. We are going to have to meet one of these days!

Keep sharing your experiences with us...you are a very smart woman!

Love,

Patty

Hi Beth, did they have much else to say about Fibro? Aundrea's pain

is no longer isolated to her toe. She is having muscle and joint

pain everywhere. Its been a bad flare and she has rated her pain

level as a 9 or 10. She has just laid around all week. I guess I

will give the doc a call on Monday. Apparently the increased dose in

meds didn't help. Although the protonix for GERD does seem

beneficial.

Glad to hear you had a good time. I look forward to reading your

other posts to hear more about your sessions etc.

things figured out quickly and start feeling like yourself again

really soon.

her.  I hope her pain is better today and she is feeling better

soon.  We missed meeting you also at conference.

certainly sounds like more than fibro going on.  In one session they

talked briefly about fibro and said there is never swelling with it.

Gout does not seem likely either.  Her toe would be very red as well

as swollen.  I hope she feels better quickly and can enjoy the rest

of her summer.

> COLLEEN:  thank you once again for an awesome conference!  Both my

kids had a blast.  Jay is already emailing his new buddies!  The

dogs that they gave away are wonderful.  Hannah is using both of them

as we speak.  She named one Arthur and the other one is Artie.

Thanks for helping to make our first conference wonderful.
