Guest guest
G'day , I had the swine flu shot 18 months ago with severe headache, chills/temp, v + d and had them for about 4 days + a very sore arm. So I am definitely not allowed to have the swine flu again. The only thing in OZ is that they put the swine flu in with the flu vax now which means I can't take this either. All winter I've had one bug after the other, although fortunately not the flu itself! Cheers -- [ ] Spoke Too Soon About Flu Shot Hi: I posted that I was fine the day I got my shot. I was deathly sick by Wed. night, and could not do anything except sip water for 2 days. I got the Combination FLU/H1N1 shot and the Pneumonia all at once. I do not know if that is what caused it, but I would advise anyone getting both to separate the 2 by a few weeks. I did ask the pharmacist where I got my shots, and he said being its not a Active Virus that its fine to do it all at once. Just thought I would share this information, in case anyone has been sensitive to these vaccines. It felt like I had the FLU. Fever, Chills, Nausea, General Weakness. Hope nobody else experiences the side effects like I did. A
Guest guest
Hi : Yes, its a big decision for everyone to make. Not everyone suffers any side effects, and others get very sick. I am feeling much better today, and at least now I know I got the protection. I will have to wait till next year to decide what to do. I got the Flu and the H1N1 separately last year, and no problem. My last Pneumonia was in 2001, and my Oncologist insisted on that because I have had Pneumonia twice already prior to getting the vaccine. Guest guest
I have to admit my arm is very sore since the flu shot and the chills, aside from nausea, but still not to bad. Guest guest
I have been taking my flu shot since 1993 and have ever had anything more than a sore arm, I had this years version on Sept. 15th and for the first time I remember of not having any soreness. In all those years I have never had a serious cold. When I was younger I did have Pneumonia several times so that has been recommended by all my Drs also. Now that I have turned 70 they have told me that is no longer necessary every year or every other year. I have discussed this with my Primary Care Dr., my Cardiologist, and both of my Oncs and they urged me not to miss keeping them up to date. Guest guest
Hi , that is good you are feeling better. Before we got our swine flu shots, my daughter caught it and we had Tamiflu to protect us initially as I was looking after her children and taking her to the Dr. As it turned out, my daughter was just pregnant with her #3 (didn't know at the time), so it was a bit of a shock and there were lots of women miscarrying at the time here in OZ. Fortunately little was born without any problems - I think he was just meant to be and is such a happy smiling little 6 month old now! Years ago before they changed the flu vax I had a severe flu after having it and vowed I wouldn't have another one, but eventually did and no side effects, except that the needle broke off in my arm! So I don't think I've had another one since! Big chicken I am. <smile> Cheers -- [ ] Spoke Too Soon About Flu Shot Hi: I posted that I was fine the day I got my shot. Guest guest
Hi guys I will never have a flu shot again I have not had a shot for 2 years The shot I had sent me to bed for about 4 days with fever, bedridden chills, weakness and my elderly Mum had to actually come and look after me. Other people seem to be OK but not me That is my experience Cheers Sue (Aussie)
Guest guest
Hi Sue: So sorry you had the same experience as me, but I never had a problem before. I think it was the 3 vaccines going into me at once. It was the combination FLU/ H1N1 and the Pneumonia. I will do them separately next year if I can, and I will not need the Pneumonia.
