Guest guest
Hi all, I am wondering if anyone on this list who is on Medicare and also taking Enbrel or any of the million dollar drugs can tell me how they get their prescriptions paid for. I have recently also found myself unisured and have also just qualified for disability. I should be eligible for Medicare next March but in the meantime I am wondering how to get the Enbrel covered or at least partially paid for. I would hate to have to stop taking it altogether. I was told that Medicare does not cover prescription drugs but also that there is a new law that will cover catastrophic illnesses and that RA may be included. Just wondering if anyone out there is savvy to this info. Thanks. Janet

Guest guest
Dear Janet and All, From: janetlou59 I am wondering if anyone on this list who is on Medicare and also taking Enbrel or any of the million dollar drugs can tell me how they get their prescriptions paid for. I have recently also found myself unisured and have also just qualified for disability. I should be eligible for Medicare next March but in the meantime I am wondering how to get the Enbrel covered or at least partially paid for. I would hate to have to stop taking it altogether. Check this out Janet: http://www.amgen.com/patient/assistance.html Free Kit For Enbrel Users: http://www.enbrel.com/enliven/enbrelenliven-kits.jsp My husband was laid off and with my SS and his unemployment we qualified for Humira to be paid for a year. I'm not on his insurance as his job in the machinist industry is very shaky so I kept on my Medicare and supplement. See here: http://www.humira.com/hu/hustore/cgi-bin/ProdSubEV_Cat_215639_NavRoot_205054_NavID_301.htm http://www.humira.com/hu/hustore/cgi-bin/ProdSubEV_Cat_215641_NavRoot_205054_NavID_301.htm From: janetlou59 I was told that Medicare does not cover prescription drugs but also that there is a new law that will cover catastrophic illnesses and that RA may be included. Just wondering if anyone out there is savvy to this info. Thanks. Thanks for this info Janet. I didn't know that. I hope they cover RA. Here are some sites to check with the drug companies about getting Rxs for free. They all, of course, have an income requirement, but I'm sure you can find the help you need here. I was hesitant about using these services, but then realized I worked for years and years before being disabled and I shouldn't feel bad about asking for help: http://www.rheumatology.org/public/acrast.asp?aud=pat http://www.edhayes.com/indigent.html Please let us know if you have any luck so as to encourage others to try these resources for themselves. I've gotten in the past Fosamax and Vioxx free right from the drug companies. Most all have programs available. Best Wishes, Dodie
