Just hold on to the hope that you will get better and have an opportunity to

have a normal healthy pregnancy and the same for the baby. We have to

believe that. I know what you mean about doctors, even though I had my tubes

tied years ago, they still make me get tested for pregnancy whenever I have

certain symptoms or need to check into the hospital for tests or biopsies.

The tubal ligation isn't good enough for them, which scares me. If they

don't trust it how can I. I keep fearing I'll get pregnant, I have always

done it very easily, but now is not good, I would be so afraid of giving the

baby Lyme. But if it happened anyway, I think I would be hopeful and go

through with the pregnancy and sort of even get excited about the idea. Must

just be a mother thing, we always yearn to have that baby. I'm lucky I have

two grandchildren, I started young and so did my daughter unfortunately.

Hang in there. Vicki

It is not so much me that it really hurts...cause my body is just not ready.

But my poor husband is. He wants a son so very badly. It hurts me to see

his need not met. But I know with faith that God knows best. I told him I

feel he will get his son but not as fast as he wants. I am almost 27 that

gives me a good thirteen years...hope my husband can hold on lol....but he

loves me no matter what. Here is praying.

Try not to feel guilty about it. I'm sure your husband wouldn't want to

jeopardize your health or that of your baby. I know about guilt, that's part

of this disease, we are so used to being certain people, and doing certain

things we can no longer do. I feel guilty daily about the wife and mother

I've become, and pray that I can get better so I can be a better

wife/mother. But I know God's will be done, so there must be a reason for

all this and your wait for a baby. But you are right, you have plenty of

time! God bless,

Vicki

Michiepez,

Hi. I have wix children. We had one birth child after adopting three boys,

then adopted two more. This was all before I realized I had PA. There were

signs and problems throughout the years, but there was no diagnosis.

2 1/2 years ago I woke up with a swollen tongue, very ill. After more

doctors than I can count, I was told I had PA. A classic case really. They

should have known this long ago in my opinion, I really am a classic case.

Now, about parenting. Two of my children have lost their mother to a deadly

disease. Everytime I have a bad day, they fear my demise. My husband and I

have spoken so many times about whether we had known previously whether or

not we would have had children. I believe that every one of my kids was

meant to be mine and God didn't want me to know sooner. But, this parenting

sick isn't easy. I have three boys that are adults now, so I'm only dealing

with three young children at home. They are 9, 8 and 6 1/2. My oldest of

this younger set is my birth daughter, she is so worried about me all of the

time. I'm worried about her because she panics when I go through hard days.

My other two, are the one's who have already lost a mother to illness, and

though they don't remember her, they know what happened. I keep having to

reassure them that I have a different kind of sick.

Would I do it again? Most likely. But, it isn't easy. When your hands hurt

so badly that you can't comb your own hair, let alone your children's, it's

hard. Would I pass on these genes again? I don't think so. I don't think I

would want my child to get this painful disease. But, for me, I didn't have

to make that decision. God made it for me. So, think it through about

having babies. I think perhaps being a parent gives me a reason to push to

get up each day. If I didn't have kids, I might be tempted to just stay in

bed on bad days.

Hi Amy. Thank you very much for your advice. It does give me something to

think about. I have been putting off having children since I got married

five years ago, I always wanted everything to be perfect, little did I know

what was in store for me. I want a child so bad but I guess I really need to

think about everything that is involved. Thanks again. I am so glad I found

you guys! Michele

Amy,

When we were trying so hard to have children, I did not have P or A..Mine didn't

manifest itself until 1976 with P and five years ago with A. At this point in

time, I don't know if I would push to have biological children...as it turned

out we didn't have our own...I lost four...we adopted four from Costa Rica and I

wouldn't change a thing. All of ours are grown and two have children. When the

grandkids come over...I know why God gives babies and children to younger

people. I guess I am a selfish person in away because I still think I would

adopt again, I'd do it all the same way.

I too believe because of the children I pushed to keep going...ballgames, band

concerts, weight lifting competitions...And it goes on through college and now

it begins with the grandkids. I thank God for the four we raised...they have

added so much to our lives that we would have missed otherwise. Each of us has

to weigh the pros and cons and decide what is best for our lives. My grandson

spent Sat. with us and he is an active 4yr old. When we got him to bed, I told

Russ I was really whipped.. and this AM, my hands and feet hurt badly. So yes

there is a strain on the body with kids. I just know that we needed children in

our lives to be fulfilled. And for us we made the best decision. Donna

Donna,

I too love kids, that's why I have so many. I am glad that the PA came up

after it was all said and done. I don't know what I would have done, if I

would have known how my life was going to be. Sometimes I feel sorry for my

kids, because I'm not the full of energy mom I was with my older kids. But,

I believe this all happened the way it did because my kids were supposed to

be mine.

I hope to go on disability in the next year or so, then I will be able to

rest while the kids are in school, instead of when we all get home. I think

this will really help me and my family. I've been a preschool director for

15 years and I seem to give more to the kids at school than I do my own.

Guilty mom syndrome I guess. Everytime I go to the doctor, they want me to

stop working. So, this next year, I feel it's my time.

You know God never forgets anything. When we first got married we told God we'd like four kids...well as the years rocked on, all the tests, the drugs...I believe it was 1979 when we decided after 2 miscarriages that it was never to be biologically we started adoption proceedings. Well you know the routine. Anyway I got pregers in '81. I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to get people excited once again to be dashed on the rocks of disappointment. Well, Aug 14, I miscarried our daughter at 5 almost into the 6th month. The day we buried , we had been home less than an hour when the post person brought the first pictures of our 4 adopted children. Of course we called Costa Rica and said yes yes yes! God doesn't forget remember....we were never offered anything less than four children in any given sibling group. And these four specifically were offered us. Yes, God does work in mysterious ways. To top it off I got pregers in Cost Rica...but lost that one at 3 months. Could not understand why jet lag wouldn't go away. My Ob-Gyn kept saying... " I told you this would happen! You just had to take four didn't you? " He was joking with us. But the sad thing was that no matter how often I got pregnant, I would never ever carry them to term...So we had the plumbing fixed.

I guess the point is, God knows how much we can handle...and it seems like some days he's not real sure how much that is. There were days at the last when climbing into those bleachers at the activities was about all I could manage...but getting down was worse. I never missed a game, concert or competition. Thank God for grit. We have one boy that is Olympic lifting and we still go to his meets...He wanted to make the USA team, but college got in the way and then student teaching was in the way. He is hoping once things settle down and he gets a school position he can get back into it. Let me tell you if he ever makes a international team...Dad and I will hock the farm buy a wide wheel chair and we'll be off with him. I may not walk so good but I can ride if someone will push me. But I do know what you mean...it would be easier if you could rest during the day and be perky for their activities or even just to enjoy their after school chatter. Amy...God did give you those kids for a reason. So give them what you can and love them with all your might...that is more improtant than materialistic things. Stability too is important...they would not have had that if you had not adopted them.

Mine had been abandoned by their father and their mom died. So everytime I landed in the hospital they just knew I wasn't coming home. Russ would bring them up and they all touched me and patted me to make sure I was going to come home. And I had to always show them my stitches or staples. You know how it goes. But the first time they saw me with an IV they just about lost it.

Just love those kids to pieces, someday they will understand. And hey, they may think all mommy's are like this. Hang in there. If you need us we are all here...Love Donna

I don't remember the person's name but there was one person who found out

she was pregnant immediately following the MGB - was pregnant at the time of

surgery actually! She lost weight during the pregnancy and had a perfectly

normal baby. Try a search of the archives in the " old " list under pregnancy

and maybe you will find something. Good luck!

One of my littermates was very interested in this and

she asked a lot of questions about it at clinic. Dr.

Rutledge said that the main concern is to make sure

you are taking a lot of supplements even before you

get pregnant. You have to be more vigilant about

nutrition. He pointed out that an obese woman has

more risks in pregnancy than an average weight woman

and that an MGB patient should do just fine if she

eats healthy and takes lots of vitamins.

He also recommended waiting 2 years post op.

Good luck!!

, there have been several babies post MGB. You might want to check with

Kathy Goodman. I'm sure her email would be on Dr. R's site under contact

patients. Her mom Pat Lyles is usually around...Pat? You there?

Kathy had a beautiful and healthy baby and the other babies have been fine and

so has the MGB mom of the new baby.

Dear Sue,

I have been considering your request since you posted it. Here is a

link to 's site that may be useful:

http://www.emofree.com/children.htm

I did a search with the words " excema " and " baby " with no results.

I believe the child is less than a year old? So I would suggest that

some sort of surrogate tapping would be the best place to begin.

I would also suggest that your intuition will be a significant factor

in what can be done. So what are your own feelings? From your other

posts, it is obvious that you have had some incredible results, so I

would guess that your intuition is very much in use!

Blessings, Nels

actually Tina, it's funny b/c my midwife told me that all you need is

adequate calories. She said that you could eat brownies all day as long as

you're getting 1700 calories. I don't know how true that is. Vitamins are

so important to pass on to the baby..... Antibodies as well....Moms in

Africa don't have a fraction of the nutrition we have and they b/f for

YEARS, but it's relative whether they are healthy????? Oh, and didn't you

say your daughter was eating raw broc..... maybe it was unavoidable...

It would be very interesting to see if there was any link--but in my

case the opposite is true, my daughter is the one with thyroid and

she was nursed 7 months longer than my son.

I was also younger and very healthy with her as I had so much milk I

donated it too!!

Anyway if you ever find any info let us know. And I have always

thought breast milk is the best but of course it does depend on how

good you eat as well!!!!

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard a " Midwife " say!

lol...lord! She/he sounds really smart!

There are little if any vitamins in junk foods...

I nursed all 3 of my children..my Son for 3.5 years...I didn't eat brownies

all day to get my allotted calories, lol..

Your Midwife needs to be reported to the stupid police, lol! Is she

licensed? Certified? I'm so amazed! What a complete idiot....she needs to

read a book and take some classes...If my Midwives said statements like that

to me I would have fired them on the spot.

We're not Mom's in Africa...and the babies there are severely malnourished

with low IQ's and serious heath concerns.
