Guest guest
Wow, congratulations Michele and !! What a big surprise for you! Take care of yourself, Filippa Babies I wanted to thank everyone for all the helpful advice on diapering choices and getting my iron levels up. I didn't get the home birth I wanted but it wasn't because of my iron levels. We found out Monday night we were having twins (one girl and one boy) and Madison Michele and Ashton McCoy were born at 10:33pm and 10:43 pm. This was a huge surprise, and our second set of twins! Our first girl also, and babies #8 and #9! Whoa, it is still sinking in. Everyone is healthy and the doctor and nurses and my midwife were all impressed with how healthy the babies were and the cord and placenta were so big and thick and healthy. I thank all the good eating knowledge I've gained and from eating NT. We came home Tuesday night and they are nursing beautifully and I am feeling pretty good also. Guest guest
<< My question is...for those of you for whom this sounds familiar, what would you have done differently for your children as babies? >> My two oldest sound like your two oldest, right down to the height thing (my 9 year old is 96 pounds and come up to my chin, and I'm not short). What I WISH I had done while I was pregnant with my third was not eat tuna (ate quite a bit I'm afraid), avoided as much toxin exposure as possible with filtered water, etc., avoided junk food, avoided Pitocin and the rest of the drugs they pumped in me. What I'm glad I did different after he was born: breastfed, avoided dairy/gluten and junk food during breastfeeding, took vitamins, and did not vaccinate. He had many similaries with my oldest, but has been extremely healthy by comparison (a bout with bronchiolitis and prolonged ear infections only after I stopped breastfeeding), is incredibly intelligent, and EASY. Calm, normal to deal with. I think we still have speech issues, but he is progressing and more than likely still won't qualify for speech services. Receptive and expressive language (he signs, points, etc.) is unbelievable for his age. M
Guest guest
I saw someone from Seattle that wanted one. I am in the Seattle area and have one I can give right now. Take care, Dorri Nurit wrote: Hello out there, Someone was looking for a starter and I wrote offering one. I've seen several postings now from people who need a starter but I'm a little confused as to who is sending what to whom. If someone wants a starter from me, please let me know that by putting my name somewhere in the email. I live in Los Angeles, by the way. Guest guest
When I first started, my babies were about that thick. It doesn't matter how thick the SCOBY is. Taste test your brew and if it tasted kind of like apple cider with a bit of a bite, it is ready. As you brew longer, your babies will get thicker. Some teas make thicker babies and also different waters, sugars, etc., can influence it. Happy Heath to you and Congratulations on your first brew! Guest guest
Hi Folks, What is the significance of the thickness of the SCOBY baby? Does it matter whether it's thick or thin?
Guest guest
The SCOBY indicates the bacteria have done their part which is the last half of the culture equation. You can't have decent gluconic acid levels without them and that contributes to both the taste and detox benefits of the brew. It also means that there is probably not much alcohol in the end product since bacteria happily devour the ethanol produced by the yeast. However, there is still plenty of benefit in a brew with a thin SCOBY since the yeast produce most of the other beneficial acids during the various phases of fermentation. - Len Re: babies What is the significance of the thickness of the SCOBY baby? Guest guest
By the way, I do have nice, fat SCOBYs, about 3/4 inch. Re: babies > > What is the significance of the thickness of the SCOBY baby? Guest guest
Congrats to Trish and on the up coming babies. They are so wonderful. I have been watching three different babies this year, they are so special and sweet, and demanding. Only three on one day of the week, the rest it's two babies. But it has been wonderful to have a baby around since I haven't had a new one around for several years, just had toddlers and preschoolers. They have been a nice addition. I wish your new mommies to be health and happiness, and hope all goes well for them, as it is such a challenge for some to even get pregnant. It makes it hard to understand how others out there can give so little regard to the blessing of having a child. Guest guest
Yes you can but they recommend you wait at least a year after the surgery, then you just have an unfil and you can have a normal pregnancy. sunshinepca <sunshinepca@...> wrote: so i am wondering if you get the lapband are you still able to get pregnant and how does it workTracie K. Guest guest
Dear Neal, You and your wife must be pleased about her pregnancy, but this must have come as an unexpected surprise. This is not the best of times, but we do the best we can with what we have and you will be alright. There are organizations who assist patients. I believe even the National Cancer Society has assistance. I would be concerned about your present situation, but try not to worry. I don't think you are in real trouble, there are drugs for mutations. Ariad is supposed to get rid of all of them. Homoherringtonine has a new name, (Google it) but is an older drug that was used in the past and is still being touted as useful in getting rid of mutations, specifically T315i. That was one of my therapies, even though I had no mutations, it was part of a trial with INF. If you have questions, you can always bring them here, there is always someone who will have an answer or refer you back to your doctor. We don't claim to be professionals, but we have experiences not written in books or journals - the human experience. I can't advise you on SSI, but I'm sure there is someone here who can. Try not to despair, there are people and organizations that have funds that may be available to you. I would not be so fast to talk about BMT. You have other options to consider and only use that as a last resort. If it becomes necessary, there is a website and support group for those patients, where you will receive the proper support and information that you need to navigate through the system. We wish you will always have the best. Carpe diem, Lottie Duthu
