Guest guest
I would like to suggest, that anyone needing spare meds may get a better response, if the included a city and state location... And I would like to ask, if there are any state laws, that make it illegal to send meds thru the mail.... Guest guest
, I sent Angel the following message some time ago. Angel lives in California. I am not about to send valuable meds to someone who doesn't seem able to mobilize the resources that are available. Angel, take action. The information that I sent was provided by a colleague who is an expert in these matters and who also took time to do some focused on line research on your behalf. Jerome =================== Hi, Angel. This information is for you and anyone else with similar challenges. You should get in touch with the California Health Advocates program. http://www.cahealthadvocates.org/. In addition, with a letter from a health insurance company declining coverage for you, the Affordable Care Act guarantees access to an affordable health plan without pre-existing condition exclusion. At this link, http://www.healthcare.gov/law/features/choices/pre-existing-condition-insurance-plan/index.html, the inquirer can get information about accessing coverage in each state. Further, you might explore whether the premium support program from PSI (www.uneedpsi.org or https://www.patientservicesinc.org/ ) is available in CA. In Virginia they have taken over some of the responsibilities of ADAP. There is also the Partnership for Prescription Assistance Program, https://www.pparx.org/en/about_us. Please consider working with a social worker or other counselor about depression issues. There is a lot of help available. Please follow up these possibilities and those provided by others on this listserve. ========================== In a message dated 2/15/2012 7:26:31 P.M. Guest guest
My comments: 1. yes, I agree, includes your city and state 2. there are laws prohibiting dispensing of meds to anyone other than who the prescription is for. That would including mailing them. But this is life and death, so screw that. Nobody would be prosecuted. 3. Always ask your doctor first if he/she can help. Some keep a stash. Technically, as in #2, it's illegal, but again this is life & death so screw that. 4. you should also check the pharmaceutical company for each med, to see if they have a patient assistance program for those who can't afford their meds. And ask your friends, and ask them to ask THEIR friends. A few years back I got 2 months of someone's meds when they changed, because they'd told their friend to ask anyone they knew. Why waste them? > > I would like to suggest, that anyone needing spare meds > may get a better response, if the included a city and state > location... > And I would like to ask, if there are any state laws, that > make it illegal to send meds thru the mail.... > > > ________________________________ > From: Angel pozzinni <Angel_poz@...> > " " < > > Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 1:53 PM > Subject: Re: Spare Meds? > > > > > > Any luck k?.. i am going on 3 weeks now without meds. Guest guest
No, there isn't any law against mailing HIV drugs. If there is, somebody better tell Caremark-- because they send me 90-day prescriptions of Norvir, Prezista, Intelence, Isentress, and Truvada all the time. > > > I would like to suggest, that anyone needing spare meds > > may get a better response, if the included a city and state > > location... > > And I would like to ask, if there are any state laws, that > > make it illegal to send meds thru the mail.... > > > > From: Angel pozzinni <Angel_poz@...> > > " " < > > > Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 1:53 PM > > Subject: Re: Spare Meds? > > > > > > > > Any luck k?.. i am going on 3 weeks now without meds. Guest guest
There are Federal laws prohibiting the mailing of medications to anyone but yourself. With that being said, I didn’t see any discussion of why the person was kicked off ADAP. Depending on the location in CA, someone at AHF maybe be able to help him navigate around the problem. www.aidshealth.org I would check to see if there is an AHF healthcare center in his area, and have him contact them.
