Guest guest
Hi Donna, On what evidence is he doing this? I would like to know. All the CML specialists say that there is no reason to achieve PCRU. In fact, if one can maintain CCR for a couple of years, your prognosis for not relapsing with your CML is the same as someone at PCRU. If you already achieved a 3 log reduction with your Gleevec, then you doctor has some ulterior motive for switching you to Tasigna. I would like to see any studies or papers that say the opposite. Yesterday I had an EKG apparently this is protocol. My onc wanted me to change meds as I am still not PCRU after 3 years on Gleevec (almost tho). He really wanted me to go on Sprycel but I was not wanting to as I think in general I read better stuff from you all about Tasigna. Boy I hope I made the right decision. Downunder said to be sure and take the 2 weeks off in between which I was really looking forward to (it's been a week so far) and I cut the grass for the first time in 3 years yesterday. Alas he changed his mind and said I have to start taking the Tasigna immediately but I think I will just give myself a couple more days I am worried about the not eating before and after as this is so different to Gleevec which I always had to take on a very full stomach, but I guess I will adjust. I am so excited about the prospects of being the old me, yesterday marked my 3rd anniversary of having CML it was a sort of melancholy day. Tammy you posted that Gleevec is no longer going to be the first choice, so will it be sprycel or tasigna I wonder! Cheers to all Donna Berry x
Guest guest
I was told to clear out my system of Sprycel (and Gleevec, when I stopped it) before starting the new medication. I don't understand why everyone cant get the same information???? So I was off for two weeks. Guest guest
Zavie, I could be wrong, but I think Donna is changing due to side effects of Gleevec also. I am switching for no other reason than if there is something a little easier to deal with, I'd like a chance to live without all the annoyances that Gleevec provides me on a daily basis.
