Guest guest
Has anyone tried complementary or alternaive medicine? I'm going to fess up and tell you that I did try it, because a friend of mine sent me all kinds of literature that looked good and followed up by giving me the name of an Indian doctor who worked at the U of Washington. He was an .D. in India, but did not have a license to practice medicine here, but taught other subjects and did research. He has now moved to another hospital on the east coast, but I only remember his last name as Singh. He called me the next morning at 7:00 a.m and told me exactly where to buy the purest (the name of the company was Pure) and best as far as he was concerned. I don't even remember the name of it now. I think it came from China (used for centuries) and was made of some kind of straw, but that was a long time ago, so I don't recall all the details. Here are some references: " Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is the term for medical products and practices that are not part of standard medical care. " Complementary medicine " refers to treatments that are used with standard treatment. " Alternative medicine " refers to treatments that are used instead of standard treatment. " http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/treatment/cam " Alternative medicine means treatments that you use instead of standard ones. Complementary medicine means nonstandard treatments that you use along with standard ones. Examples of CAM therapies are acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicines. CAM treatments do not work for everyone, but some methods such as acupuncture might help with nausea, pain and other side effects of cancer treatment. In general, researchers know more about the safety and effectiveness of standard cancer treatments than they do about CAM. To make sure nothing gets in the way of your cancer care, talk to your doctor before you try anything new. " http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/canceralternativetherapies.html I will say this, my friend had CML and she died because I think she turned up her nose at conventional medicine. She didn't want my Gleevec eyes and weight gain. If you have tried anything that is not considered conventional, let us know what you tried and was it useful to you? No one will prejudge you, we just want to know what works and what doesn't. There is a doctor in Houston who uses urine to treat for brain cancer, so nothing is off limits here. We have covered everything, including sex. What I want to know is, how does a man " fake it " ? Carpe diem, Lottie Duthu Something I never knew existed, a book about CML by Drs.
