Guest guest
We had no problems potty training our son w/#1. Till the age of 7 he would poop in his pull ups. Made him wear reg. underwear at age 5 because he did #1 in the toilet never did wet his bed but he would poop his pants. Because he was getting older felt if I left the pullups on he would never learn. At 5 he wore the underpants day & night put several pairs in his bookbag to school. Then we figured it out that he was too lazy to leave the computer or show or toy that he was playing with to go #2. Now he did use the potty for #2 at this point too. He just was being lazy. Finally by age 7 he stopped doing it in his pants. STILL at age 10 he will not do #2 at school unless he can't hold it. He holds it till he gets home from school & even if we go to s or shop from school then home he will hold it. But when he gets home he then goes. If your child is constipated & you are trying Miralax etc. Try Natures Sunshine Liquid Calcium 1/2 tsp at night. It also helps calm the child for sleep. Have a super day. J. Isom Re: Holding Poop How old is your son and how much miralax does he take? We tried it and it seemed that my son would still hold his poop anyway. I guess I don't understand what the miralax does. We were told that it keeps his stools from getting hard while he holds them, but when we give him an enema his stools are never hard to begin with..Sherri <69kittiegmail> wrote: He has encopresis most likely. Its as much psychological as physical. Our doctor recommended Miralax and that's really helped my son.He is now regular after YEARS of holding.Sherrimrstrent wrote: Does anyone have any advice or had their child hold their poops. My six year old has been holding his poops for a few years now and it is driving me crazy! He is totally potty trained for urine, but continues to have streaks because he continues to try to hold his poops. We have seen a Pediatric GI who has given him two botox treatments and they work for a few days and then he goes back to holding them.Right now we are having to give him enemas to clean him out every few days and he doesnt like it and I am getting tired of doing it.He has been on a GFCF diet for 3 years and does see a DAN dr, but was doing this ( holding poops) before the DAN and has continued to do so. Any suggestions accepted as I am at my wits end. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
