He has witnessed first hand how I got rid of the Gleevec rash that I had for a year (on 400mg) by an alternative treatment, just as I was increasing to 800mg a day. This technique was called NAET and is based on eastern medicine and channels of energy. We eliminated my allergic skin reaction to Gleevec. And I do drink green tea and believe in lot of other helpful alternative things that you can do (like eating an alkaline diet, eating anti-oxidant foods, etc.) BUT.....I strongly disagee with the statement you have written above, and of course this is just another person's opinion. There is a well researched book titled Remarkable Recovery about all the diseases and cancers where people do have spontaneous recovery and there is not one case of CML. We have an acquired genetic mutation that we can't undo.....even our drugs cannot undo it, it is thought because this flaw happened in a progenitor stem cell (from which other cells originate). (We are starting to see some people who are off drug and remaining pcru, esp. after interferon, but that data is not long enough to say that they have actually been cured). I do not agree that people cause their own acquired diseases.....there is genetics, environment that you have no control over, etc.........some personal factors, like stress, might contribute. And I do not believe that people have a desire to die prematurely because their treatment is not successful. This notion that you caused your own cancer is a hurtful notion and has been discarded by most people in the mental health profession. Personally, I think believing is part of healing.....and I expect to be a survivor (but I know I could also be wrong about that). I expect to die from something other than cml.....like maybe old age. As I sit here typing, I have a dragon hanging from the ceiling over my shoulder, and I believe that having a dragon in the house wards off evil and brings you good luck! My 2 cents, C.
