Well, here is a contact to pass around to anyone who may need it. This is especially for those people who have very hard immigration cases such as removals (deportations) and those waiting for their papers forever, and those who were promised and never got anything after winning the lottery or their number was never reached, [these two entail advocating for], applying for family members, work permits, H1 visa-the extended work visas etc. Tell your story and they will tell you upfront whether they can handle it or not. Guest guest
I immigrated here about 20 years ago from Hong Kong and I know I had to be up-to-date with my vaccines. But I also know they didn't check. My mother had to fill out the forms and had a doctor sign it. Then she went back and put a check mark on all these childhood diseases claiming I already had them. (I did have chicken pox and mumps already but not some of the other stuff). Then she just made up dates for shots that were required but I didn't get yet. It wasn't that she was anti-vaxed. It was just she was overwhelm with the move and didn't want to get us all to the doctor. Things might be different now and they might be stricter. Not sure. My friend adopted a girl from China and they did require her to get all the vaccines for her age before she was allowed into this country. She wasn't anti-vaxed so she didn't look into exemptions. The sad thing was when she got home, her doctor told her she needed to be vaxed again for all the same things because the vaccines they use in China wasn't good enough. Whatever. > > Dear Group; > > Is it true that immigrants coming to this country, the US, are REQUIRED to be > fully vaccinated?
Guest guest
My husband came into the states on a fiance visa 8 years ago and yes, he had to show proof (medical records) that he was fully vaccinated, whatever the requirements were 8 years ago. He had been fully vaxed as a child, but they required him to get an MMR booster as well as a chest x-ray. Sucks. Back then, though, we didn't know anything about vaccines - can't believe how different our lives/beliefs are now! Guest guest
That is sad. I know a woman who adopted a child from Russia only to get him home and discover he was profoundly autistic. He is now grown. Then I read that it is possible with adoptions to get the children here and get them vaxed here since "the vaxes overseas are not dependable". Your story and mine may shed light on that new policy. ~ Maureen R.
