Guest guest
Tess, I'm sorry about your pain. I'm not in PA, but I have had an open MRI. For my MRI, I had to lie down and, once in position, a huge slab moved over me. It's was pretty close to my face, but I could look left or right and see the room. I didn't have any Valium, but my claustrophobia is not that bad. It is bad enough that I wanted an open MRI though. Guest guest
When I had my MRI recently, I didn't mind being enclosed. It was the loud, loud noise that I didn't like! But then I'm not claustrophobic. Sue On Apr 3, 2009, at 2:12 PM, wrote: > Tess, I'm sorry about your pain. > > I'm not in PA, but I have had an open MRI. Guest guest
Last year I had an open MRI for my liver area. They gave me a warm blanket and headphones to listen to music. The sides of the machine were open and the top was close to me. If I have to use the closed MRI then I always keep my eyes closed since I get claustrophobic in there also. Don't have any valium for it though. Debbie L > > When I had my MRI recently, I didn't mind being enclosed. It was the > loud, loud noise that I didn't like! Guest guest
My daughter just had an MRI with and without contrast. Dr. L requested it because she has both vision and hearing loss. Charlotte iamwhimsy@... http://whimsy.t35.com [ ] MRI Have any of your children had an MRI ? The doctor is ordering one and I'm not quite sure what he expects to see. Would it show if there were cysts on the brain? It was just really strange because Dr. J's office called me up and told me to schedule an MRI and then took my son off the flagyl. Myabe the school contacted his office? When I had my meeting this week at the school, they said my son cannot even do simple addition or subtraction anymore ever since being on the med. He is 8. Guest guest
My son had a brain spect and I also think an MRI shortly after he was first diagnosed because of some symptoms we were noticing. I know the brain spect showed some decreased blood flow to certain parts of his brain that they said would improve as the infection was taken care of. I can't remember what the MRI would have shown because his came back okay. I also think that they had him stop his meds temporarily prior to doing the tests because they needed him off meds in order to do the test so that may be why they to you to take your son off flagyl. I would suggest calling their office back to clarify why they are requesting the test to be done and why they want him to stop the flagyl so you have a better understanding and hopefully more peace with what they are recommending. Best wishes, Patty [ ] MRI Have any of your children had an MRI ? The doctor is ordering one and I'm not quite sure what he expects to see. Would it show if there were cysts on the brain? Guest guest
My 11 yr old daughter had an MRI 14 months ago before going on all the abx. It was to make sure she didn't have a tumor or other reason for her consant headache. Also, they may have been able to visualize actual Lyme lesions in her brain. It was both with and without contrast (an IV injecton of a " dye " so they can better visualize blood vessels). If your son is kind of mellow or just very calm and trusting, there should be no problem. If he has any anxiety or claustophobia, then you should prepare him or ask them for some advice for calming him down. He will have to lie very still for minutes at a time. Some technicians are really understanding and good about preparing and talking to patients, others are not. Also, you cannot hold his hand throughout his procedure. I would suggest he focus on something pleasant or try to sleep and aknowledge and reward his effort afterwards (whether he could do it or not). It does seem like a good idea to call the office beforehand to allay your worries... Good luck Aviva P.S. Guest guest
Dear , I am glad they were able to find your tumor in the pitutary gland and you survived to have CML. This sounds like a pun, but in truth, you were saved a second time when you were diagnosed with CML because of modern medicine. Anyway, I am glad you are still here to give us your sage advice. Blessings, Lottie __________________________________ Dear Bobby, At one time they tried to get me in the old closed in ones and I refused. The technicians taunted me and I said I didn't care what they said, they were not going to get me in one of those little tiny tubes. They sent me to another hospital. Now for some reason, it doesn't bother me, maybe because they are a bit larger and I never got out and measured them. LOL. Glad it is over with and you got caught up on your sleep. Hope they find what ails you. I told my oncologist about your experience with the marijuana and he just smiled. I asked for a prescription for marinol and he said it wasn't as good as something else for nausea and he gave me a different script. It is still on the kitchen counter, because it costs $600 to fill. The last time he gave me a script it was for opioid constipation and it was over $100 for one shot. That one is in file 13, I found castor oil to be just as effective and a lot cheaper. I don't think I will be getting into the Ariad trial, there are no slots, but he wants to put me in DCC2036, but I don't want to have to rent another apartment and stay in Houston. I told Jimmy I have just about made up my mind to just take Tasigna, it's already been trialed and I just have to find a benefactor. Can any of you tell me how long it took you to get a supply and is PSI the only company dispensing it for patient assistance?
