Guest guest
Thank you so much for putting it so clearly. We are self-employed too, and in Texas health insurance coverage has been gutted by recent bone-headed state legislation on top of the rough time we're having with the economy like it is. Healthcare and health insurance is one of the three major reasons, in a nutshell, why we started to seriously consider Obama. We have been told by health insurance companies point blank that they will not insure Allie, and there is nothing we can do about it as self-employed Americans. That's just not right. Her last trip to the emergency room cost us over $2000.00., and her trouble with preventrical tachycardia this Spring cost us another $6000.00 - us not an insurance company. Sorry guys, I've posted more on this than I have in months. In my family, political discussions are pretty much like breathing - something we can't help but do! LOL I find everyone's ideas and comments really interesting, but I'll shut up now and not help keep this going on and on! :-) Sondra, I really enjoyed reading what you had to say. Thanks for asking such a provocative question. Sandi In a message dated 9/6/2008 10:50:13 A.M. Guest guest
Dear Dory, That is an interesting story, a sanctuary city within our borders to host planters of marijuana. Well we all know that is plain politics, fueled by huge political contributions to their campaigns. Isn't that the way it goes for " big tobacco " , too? Isn't there an email going on that said we are being governed by 575 people in Washington? In Amsterdam, Holland, you do not have to wait to go to the outskirts of the city to smoke pot. It is an open city, where men are allowed to take a leak in any of the canals (they waved to us as we went by in a boat). As we walked down the street, men on the 3rd floor dropped bags of marijauna from a string atop our heads to entice us to buy. Of all of the beautiful places in Holland, that is the place they take you on tour. People who live there don't like it because they say it doesn't represent their country. We went because we wanted to take advantage of everything we had paid for, but some people refused to leave their rooms, they were afraid to leave, because of the crime. We had to leave our purses locked in the bus and were told to walk single file holding each others hands as we walked down the street. I don't think that is a good model, and if I were to go back, I would avoid that city. Remember once if you wanted to gamble, you went to a back room behind some bar or to Las Vegas, the city of lost wages. Now there are casinoes everywhere you turn. Legal? Yes, but morally that is an ongoing debate. Same with marijuana, the debate rages on. If people want to get it, they will find a way to get it. I was approached by a state trooper who said if I needed it for medicinal purposes, he could get all I needed. That was the way he put it. Many, many times, it is taken from evidence rooms and I can only assume that is the way he would have gotten it. His father was the pastor of the Baptist church and his mother was my organ teacher, so this is a true story I am not fabricating. I'm sure it has its uses, but as Tracey said, it is the ingredients that you have to be worried about. If you take them out of the equation and the product is still useful, maybe we will see it coming to your nearest WalMarts soon. Guest guest
Hi Lottie, Glad to have you back and posting. In Holland, Marijuana is still illegal. What happens there is that they don't enforce the law in the coffee shops. The government has given them guidelines and indicated that if they follow them they would not be prosecuted.
