Hi,

As far as Hot tub or bath tub is concerned I saw a walk in bath in Arthritis Today magazine. It has a door so people with limited mobility can walk in and sit down. This may be an option for you. Also I don't know, but maybe insuranace will pay for it as part of therapy.

The second is the capsicim based rubs. Be very careful when you use these. i would strongly recommend wearing gloves and not putting this stiff anywhere near mucous membranes such as eyes, mouth or genitalia. I can tell you the story about a friend that used it on her bad back and got in the shower and it ran down her butt crack and set her on fire. She actually had chemical burns that required medical treatment.

The other person used gloves and did excellent hand washing, but put her hand on her knee where she had rubbed them put hand in face to take care of contact lenses and ended up in ER with severe eye irritation.

I tried a many of the brands in the stores and really found none that impressed me. I do however use a line of products you can buy from local chiropractors and Physical therapists. I use Sombra, Biofreeze and Kool N fit. I will include a link that I buy over the internet as well as the company websites for those that are interested. All three work well and Biofreeze comes in no mess easy to use rollon which is quite convienent at times. The kool n fit is a spray bottle which is also handy. I do not have any financial interest in these products, just found they work well for me. Many times if you find them at your local doc or PT office you insurance will pay for bottles for home use as well as they usually will give you samples to try. Also an internet search reveals many that sell and even offer free samples. Ebay is also another resource for finding these products and many more just like it.

Subject: painful areas

as i mentioned in an earlier post, i went to pain dr yesterday and asked about the tender nerves down both sides of my thighs to the knees and he suggested Capsicum cream .07 i think. it is the effective part of cayene peppers. it can be purchased over the counter. it is about like putting a warm poultice on the area involved. i'm truckin' down to the local pharmacy and see about that!!

I have a spa in my bathtub - sometimes I use it, but I don't find it particularly helpful. I just like soaking in the hot water for relief. I would be surprised if you could find insurance to actually pay for a spa in your bathroom, but go for it!

Granny, please be careful putting that cream on with your fingers....if you then touch your nose or rub your eyes, you are in big trouble, it burns badly.....I use a Q-tip to put that cream on my hip and hands...gentle hugs, Marcia.
