Guest guest
Oooh, 's Granddad is AS, I'm absolutely sure of it, and his Granddad gives such a hard time you wouldn't believe it. No sympathy from *that* corner. No " I've been there, I know what it's like " from him! just had his birthday, and we were talking about birthday presents. Granddad didn't want to get him a gift certificate to the book store because he wasn't sure he'd approve of the books he'd choose. (He's reading Shakespeare at the moment... and some fantasy, it's true...) ANYWAY, the point of this rant is that just because someone is AS is no guarantee that they'll get along with another person who is AS. Guest guest
Just thought I would share this poem I wrote for a dear friend when she was critically ill. We lost her less than 2 years later, but she had 1 1/2 years in between where she could really enjoy life. Her former husband read this at her memorial. She was a wonderful person. Dear Friend It seems I appreciate friends The older and older I grow They help when life sometimes Has too much ebb and flow. It is not always fair This life on earth we lead And friends help us along In our hour of need. I've leaned that I cannot change Many things in life And that ultimately and ever I have to deal with strife. I've learned that illness comes Without regard to who Or what a person is Or anything I do. The way that I should live I've learned, is give and take And giving's the most joyous Choice that I can make. I've learned that being alone Is not something to fear And that quiet sometimes brings Peace and serenity here. I've learned that my family And friends are what's most dear And that other things are just Parts of life we bear. And you are a dear friend The best life can bestow Kind, thoughtful and true Just thought I'd let you know. I love you. Lynda

Guest guest
, My name is . Good for you for becoming stronger. Do not let anything stand in your way. I myself do not have CMT but I am married to a wonderful man 10 years this past August who does have CMT. I recall he also was very depressed and as the years went by the depression only grew. I stood by him and I always will because true friendship and love come from the heart. This is a tough disease and I believe with a little courage and hope my husband can also get only stronger. I am thankful for this site as well because my husband does not feel alone in his struggles. He knows that there are people out there who also struggle. I hope you find only the success and happiness you desire. Always remember the power of positive thinking will only make the days a lot happier. Sincerely,

Guest guest
I lived 41 years in Boston and southern New Hampshire (N.H.) I moved to North Carolina (N.C.) which is in the South. This makes me a Damn Yankee although at home I am not a Yankee (WASP) but Irish-Catholic and therefore ethnic. A Damn Yankee is someone from the North who comes to the South, and stays LOL. I have tried to make friends down here and I cannot. Two of my friends at home have passed away and I have two left, at home. The people who are friendly are from north of the Mason-Dixon Line. I don't get it, I certainly have reached out repeatedly. I think there are probably many of us who are lonely, and who feel alone, too. Being an only child I am able to keep myself busy; in fact, there are not enough hours in the day. My husband says I talk too much, no doubt true as he is it. I sure miss having a few women friends to chat with on a variety of subjects. I wish I could afford telephone service to make calls through out the country and speak with people from my lists :-) " ...if by liberal they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people...their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, their civil liberties...if that is what they mean by a " liberal " then I am proud to be a liberal. I have a son and a husband. I also like crafts--I am a huge scrapbooker and I love reality TV. I have some bad days which I normally keep to myself and I also have good days, but it would be nice to talk to someone who is going through the same thing that I am.
