Hi ,

My 8-year-old daughter has been on prozac since she was diagnosed at age 5.

I held onto the prescription for 6 months because, like you, I did not want to

medicate my baby. But.........things got very bad for her. She literally

could not function. It took about a month to take effect, but after it did she

got her life back again. It was our " miracle drug " . We have tried to wean

her three times since with terrible results every time, convincing us that she

needs it. Now, after three years we are noticing behavioral side effects such

as rages and ODD and irritability. We're going to see what her dr. says about

this. We're desperately looking for other alternatives but coming us short.
