Guest guest
I would like to know if anyone else is having an issue with Tasigna and hyperglycemic (elevated fasting glucose)? It is listed on the drug insert as occurring in 11%. Dr. Druker and RN Carolyn have told me that they have seen this trend. I know that Matt mentioned elevated blood pressure that took him off Tasigna. My fasting glucose was usually at the high end of the normal range, and sometimes sl. above, but after being on Tasigna for 7 months, it is now definitely elevated (fasting at 120) and I will see a new primary care about this on Friday. I am hoping this can be controlled by diet (mine is very healthy except when I binge on some goodie, so I have stopped that) and exercise. Please post or let me know privately if you have had a problem with this, how high it has gotten and what you have done about it. Thanks for any information you can provide. C. Guest guest
I have been on Tasigna since April. I had been on Gleevec for about 7 years and started losing my response so was switched to Tasigna. I had blood work checked monthly when I first switched and my blood sugar started increasing within the first month. I have been checking every am (fasting) and they run between 98-120. Interestingly, my MD has asked me to check the blood sugar level 2 hours after I eat just to see what they do, and each time I have done that my blood glucose is in the 90's. Really doesn't seem to make much sense. Right now we are just trending the numbers- hopefully will not have to resort to medication. I have noticed the same thing, my glucose is actually lower when it is tested non-fasting (and this is when you would expect it to be higher). I will see what the new MD has to say on Friday, and let you know if I get more insight. C.
