Yes, I taught both of my " pill takers " to swallow pills , both at age 5. Buy the

mini m & m's and practice with those first. If it does, your all set. If she can't

do that, than put one of the m & m's in pudding or applesauce and have her take

it. She may resist at first, but just explain how easy it is. Even offer awards.

My son who is 10 will not swallow a pill to this day. I have tried practicing

with everything. it just freaks him out. For a while we used capsules I could

open. I sprinkled the contents on ice cream every morning!!! yes, ice cream.

He ate it for awhile but the novelty wore off. I know it is tough...I still

haven't mastered it with him...but my suggestion is to keep trying to get them

to do it right, Once they do, they will realize how easy and fast it is to

swallow

Another suggestion - When my son started his medication, I would put the pill in

a teaspoon of applesauce and he was able to swallow the pill with the applesauce

- I also let the pill sit in the applesauce for a couple of minutes to try to

soften the pill.
