Guest guest
Well I was feeling more positive until we started doing homework tonight. He wanted to do some work on a research project to help him feel more in control tomorrow, more prepared. Not 15 minutes into it he began panicking again and just couldn't pull himself out. He had another panic attack. I got him into the car (had to pickup his brother from basketball practice) and by the time the drive was over and the cold air blowing in his face he had started breathing again and it passed. This was just mortifying to watch. He kept moaning he was dying and there was nothing worth living for. I dread tomorrow morning. I don't know how I'm gonna be able to get him there!! My heart is just breaking for him. as a mom you just want to protect your kid, but how do you protect them from themselves? **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
- I can imagine how he felt. Research projects would make anyone panic. Is there anyway you can break down his homework into intervals. For example, with the research project, tell him to look up one specific thing for 15 minutes. Then get up from the computer and take a break. Play a video game, watch TV, listen to music, take a walk in the fresh air, whatever. Then after another 15 minutes or so, attempt another homework assignment for about 15 minutes. Then get up and do something else that is not school oriented. I don't know - I'm grasping at straws myself. I keep trying different things with my son so he'll just get through his work. Try not to get too discouraged. I know it's hard. angela RHelinski@... wrote: Well I was feeling more positive until we started doing homework tonight.
