Guest guest
My daughter also had this problem. Our ortho suggested a good scrub with a dry washcloth to scratch it for her. This helped some, but the best thing was for us to keep her hands busy with toys, a bath etc. I think sometimes besides being itchy it just " feels different " to have the band off, so they are drawn to touch/scratch their head. -christine sydney 2.5 yrs starband grad > > My daughter has been wearing her cap for a week. Guest guest
We had this problem as well. What seems to work for us is a quick rub down with a wet washcloth and then a small amount of baby lotion (we use California Baby Super Sensitive). If there is a red rash of any sort, I apply a small amount of hydrocortisone cream (it helps with the itching).Good luck! Itchy scalp My daughter has been wearing her cap for a week. While it's on, we've had no problems. She seems to tolerate it well. When we take it off, however, she scratches at her scalp continually. I've got her dagger-like fingernails clipped as short as I can, but she still is doing major damage. She's got bleeding scratches all over her little noggin. We went for our first adjustment of the helmet today and I asked the orthotist about it. He asked if she has been pretty sweaty when we remove the cap. She has. He said that the itchiness is caused when the sweat is drying really fast when we remove the cap so we should have a wet washcloth handy and immediately wipe off her head. I tried that twice this afternoon and it didn't seem to help much. Does anyone know if the itchiness will get better? Any other thoughts on how to help her with this problem? Thanks. Guest guest
I also had the itchy scalp when I first started Tasigna. At first I didn't connect the two. I finally realized it could be the Tasigna, which it was. It lasted for a short time (maybe 4-6 weeks). It stopped suddenly and came back once for a couple of weeks. I've been on Tasigna for two years and feel great. I'm also pcru. I never did anything for the scalp itch except put up with it. Since it went away by itself I didn't feel it was a big deal. Good luck to you! in NY
