Guest guest
Hi Libby, I've been on Placquenil for about ten or eleven years now, and initially had all the side effects possible, including that horrible rash. I rode them out, and for years I haven't had any at all. I don't really know if it affected my headaches, because I get migraines too, and sinus headaches, but in the last several years they've decreased in frequency quite a bit. The drug is working for me -- I have passing joint inflammation, but not severe, and in the years I've been on it, I only have developed one finger deformity, and that might be osteoarthritis complications. I'm just hoping that it continues to work. I take Aleve occasionally, and that seems to help a lot with joint pain. ----- Original Message ----- From: lib Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Friday, February 20, 2004 9:53 PM Subject: Digest Number 616 Just a survey of methotrexate of sorts...: I've been on methotrexate for almost seven years now. I take 10 mg.weekly, 5 mg. prednisone daily, and flurbiprophen 100 mg. twice daily. Thislast med is also known as ansid (sp). Recently I have begun havingproblems and go back to the doctor a week from today. I will probably haveto try something new. I have been very lucky and have had no side effectsfrom the methotrexate. Also for the person taking plaquinil, one thing to watch out for isheadaches. I developed them after being on plaquinil for only a shortperiod of time. My doctor said that I was only the second patient that hehad seen this side effect. I stopped the meds and the headaches stopped. Ido also suffer from migraine headaches so I don't know if that had anythingto do with things. I have been on digest here and usually do not even have time to scanmail. I do hope to be here more often and have changed to individualemails. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and share information.Hugs,Libby> ________________________________________________________________________> > Message: 2> Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2004 10:48:44 EST> From: aclavern33@...> Subject: Re: Just a survey of methotrexate of sorts...> > ,> > I have been on MTX for about 9 months now off and on. Guest guest
hello Lib.. i have been using plaquanil for 4 or 5 years and doing pretty well, eyes getting worse, but getting older, too..<G>just been lucky! i haven't had headaches since in the 50's (that's 1950's <G>) EXCEPT when i started using the pink and the blue sugar replacements. when i quit using them, my headaches stopped. i will use them once in a while when go out to eat, but that is all. I use stevia which is a really sweet herb. the clear liquid type is my favorite. anyone having headaches might try getting off of those kind of sweetners and see what happens. my pharmacist says they metabolize as ..orlike.. or someting.. like wood alcohol. i don't understan it all, only know i don't have headaches after quiting them.just a thought. love.. granny lee ---- Original Message ---fom: lib I've been on methotrexate for almost seven years now.
