A cancer clinical trial is a carefully controlled research study conducted by medical teams to improve the care and treatment of cancer patients. Conference speakers will include physicians and nurses from the Mayo Clinic; local attorneys with expertise in employment laws that impact patients in clinical trials; an expert of the psycho-social impact of cancer and a 14-year leukemia survivor who participated in a clinical trial. Schorr, a former medical journalist and the founder of the Patient Power website, will discuss his decision to participate in the clinical trial and the benefits it brought to his family. The program is free but advance registration is required to attend.
