Yippee!  I don't have to have labs done every week now, I can just have

them done twice a month.  Once at U of Mich, and two weeks later at the

Cleveland Clinic.  And very soon it will be a quarterly visit to see the good

doctor, not once a month.  My labs are great except for hgb, which stays around

10.2 - 10.7, even taking 975mg iron a day.

Had a great visit, was back home by 2:30, not bad considering it is a 350 mile

round trip.

Hi everyone, Mon. my daughter drove me to Ann Arbor for my visit with Dr.

Talpaz.  Normally it's 3 hrs to get there, 3 hrs. there and 3 more back home.

Not this time.  The good Dr. Talpaz said my ekg was indicative of a heart

attack and sent me to the ER.  I did not leave until Wed. afternoon!!

The good news is 1) I did not have a heart attack, I had a stress test and the

heart is fine. 2) the cardioversion (shock the heart back into normal) worked

and I am no longer in Afib.

Not sure why the ekg read that way, I think one of the doctors said it could

have been due to the cardioversion,.  Anyway, they did help with the shortness

of breath.  They said I had too much fluid in my body, heart and lungs

included, and loaded me up with lasix.  I have lost 11 lbs since Mon. am.  I

feel much better, have not been short of breath , just a wee bit on occasion.

They said there was not enough oxygen in my blood and that is what made the

heart work harder, causing SOB.  So, 11 lbs lighter, I feel better.

3) the other good news is I don't go back until May, and will finally be on a 6

month visit schedule.  they sort of flew by the 3 month ones.

Hans and Beth, if you are reading this, are you on 3 month or 6 month schedules?

Have a great day everyone, the sun is out here in Ohio and the snow has melted,

looks great to be gone, but now they are worried about flooding.  Always

Yes, it was 10. something, I think 6. I had been complaining since Dec.

about SOB, and no one did anything about it, until Dr. t sent me to the ER.

I am about to rid myself of my PCP and my Cardio. Aside from a successful

conversion, my cardioBobby is the pits! Hope you're doing great and

enjoying your new life.

Bobby,

So very glad to hear that you are feeling better.....not glad to hear that you

had to go into the hospital to do so, but the end result is GOOD!!

Hi Bobby:

What an ordeal you have been through.  Like you, I have just been switched to

six monthly visits.   Must be something positive in that step.

May you have some plain sailing from hereon.

Hi, I love the idea of 6 month visits.  Not just because it's 2 bmb/bma

procedures a year, instead of 12, or 4, but because if I'm not preparing every

month to go to Ann Arbor, I forget I even have CML.  Out of sight, out of

mind.  I have to set the alarm on my phone to even remember to take my pill,

then I have to remember to take my phone with me. So, it's a great step for us,

Hi, , both Beth and Hans were on 3 month visits way before me, the same I

think with the 6 month visits.  Dr. Talpaz explained to me it was up to the

hospital .  Now that they have started them, you most likely will not have to

wait 2 years like I did.  Good luck, and isn't Dr. Talpaz a great doctor?

Bobby,

That is wonderful news!  I'm glad you are feeling better.  Now to have so much

time between visits- that is great.  I will still be monthly until...who knows

when?  I'm glad you are well.

Bobby,

THat is encouraging news for me. I won't buy my plane tickets too far in advance

then.  I go again on Wed. for biopsy, Echo, meeting with Bixby (Talpaz is out

of

town)  Talpaz is wonderful- he always makes me feel so hopeful!  Glad you are

well.  I'm now 3 months on Ariad- hopefully will have good news with this

biopsy.

better, have not been short of breath , just a wee bit on occasion. They said

there was not enough oxygen in my blood and that is what made the heart work

harder, causing SOB.

Always

something,  Bobby

Hi Bobby.

I am so glad to hear the news. Thank goodness it was't a heart attack. Gee,

you really have had alot of health issues this year. I hope that all goes

smooth from now on. At least you have the sun in Ohio. We sit in New Jersey in

cold, often snowy weather. No sun today-clouds that were followed after snow.

attack and sent me to the ER.  I did not leave until Wed. afternoon!!

and loaded me up with lasix.  I have lost 11 lbs since Mon. am.  I feel much
