Guest guest
Toni- Wow- I too would be overwhelmed by this. Kind of blows the mind - hope it works in the positive for you. I have been off work for 4 months, and still have not been able to get my LTD insurance - They keep saying they have requested medical records, and when I check with the Dr - there is no request. Then I get weird letters from the Insurance adjuster telling me I MUST co-operate with her????(got that letter today).

Guest guest
Hello, I don't know who your compnay uses for LTD but I have Unum Provident. You wll have to stay on top of this situation. Otherwise they will screw you out of your LTD. Its there job to keep from paying claims if they can. A quick search of your LTD policy holding company will reveal lots of lawsuites for wrongful denial of benefits. I know Unum has tons of them as well as class action law suite to go along with the very long list. My doc is very good about responding to coorspondance as well. But the LTD is not. I would first demand a copy of the LTD policy and rules. Don't take no for an answer. They will tell you its all legal mumbo jumbo..but infact my was in plain simple english! Also make sure your doctor has a copy of the authorization to release medical info to your LTD. Next demand they fax and mail copies of all requests to both you and the doc. I use to hand carry a lot of stuff..fax it back or mail it. Make sure you keep copies of all coorspondance with them. I know this is time consuming and a pain..but since I am not working i have nothing better to do but insure I do get paid! LOL I have a clause in my policy that will let me work part time as long as it does not exceed a certain precentage of my disability. Basicly with me working my disabily will be reduced so the total is not more than 60% of salary. That is what I am allowed on LTD. Just make sure you know the rules...they love to tell you what they are not allowed to do..but get real antsy when you ask for and they are aware that you know the rules. Guest guest
Dear Toni, I also have a physically demanding job. I imagine that the uncertainty must be frightening, but it sounds as though your doctor is on your side, within the limited amount of help h can give. Hope it works out for you.
