Guest guest
Yes. Our son has been on it twice (second time being currently). Both times he gained weight. I believe that is not uncommon with SSRIs. My husband, who is blessed to eat all he wants and not gain a pound, gained weight when he took SSRIs. Our experience has been that not only does it make you eat more, it also makes you zone out a bit so you are less inclined to get exercise. Recently, however, our son has been eating less and he hasn't lost a pound, so it much slow down your metabolism some too. For us, for now, the benefits are outweighing the side effects though, so we just have to deal with it and hope in the future there is something better available. ( Is your kiddo new to Celexa and gaining? BJ > > Anyone else notice this when starting? > Thanks > Kathy >
Guest guest
-- Hi BJ, Thanks for the input. No, my kids are on medication, just no this type. Its actually me and I just started two months ago. I work out an hour a day, day in and day out, and dont eat that bad and have put on give pounds, which I didn't need. If he can't find a better option. I will just go off. Part of it was the anxiety and depression associated w/ managing my kids mood disorders. I freaked out when they put my kiddos on risperdol so he thought I needed something to handle the anxiety. That is good, but not so good that i want to gain this type of weight. I am on the high end of my weight for height to be in the normal range, and this pushes me into the overweight category. Doctor said it was the least likely to cause weight gain, but it still did. Guest guest
didn't gain anything. And he could use some additional pounds! I know some (in a Celexa group) gained a few pounds (10 or so), which seems " little " compared to some other medications. > > Anyone else notice this when starting? > Thanks > Kathy >
Guest guest
Maybe it is individual, but my husband gained an all he tried except Welbutrin. He's been taking that for a while and does well on it.
