Guest guest
Same by me, but I just got the flu shot today. Actually, it two years ago, and I had the shot in October, and got the flu in June. Mona Re: rheumatic flu shot rheumatic <mailto:rheumatic%40> Date: Thursday, September 17, 2009, 6:13 PM Personally, I've never gotten a flu shot and I've never gotten the flu. That's just me and I'd sure like to hear from others in the group. I'm betting it's a mixed bag. I've asked Dr Brownstein several times over the passed years...why, if I have RA (which I do) and my immune system is compromised, don't I ever get colds, the flue, viruses, etc. His answer was that very often people WITH RA and these types of conditions don't contact the flu, etc, very often. Strange. Any of you with this happening? AND, believe me, I'm not complaining! thanks, Judy
Guest guest
Dear Sue in AU, I'm so sorry you experienced this side effect to the flu. You and our other Sue must be the exception, rather than the rule. Has anyone else experienced this from the flu shot at any time? They guarantee that no one can get the flu because it is a dead virus, but do you think that maybe one or two escaped? LOL Not laughing about you, just trying to make light of it, but it is serious to the person who is experiencing it. That is making a lot of people a little uneasy about getting a flu shot, because what you went through sounds scary, especially to someone with CML, but then I am afraid of what might happen if I don't get it. They say never be the first to get anything, especially a flu shot. Was it given to you in the doctor's office where you would expect to get the purest and most sanitized version? I hear you are quite busy raising money for the Leukemia Society, here's hoping you top last year's donations. You have had a whole year to think up all sorts of games and prizes. The people of the town are probably looking forward to this as entertainment of the year. Take care, good luck, better health, and keep us posted. Carpe Diem, Lottie
