Novartis has invited me to attend an informal meeting to discuss the unmet needs of patients with CML. I have already brought up the Tasigna packaging issue with them and am expecting an answer at this meeting. I will bring up the question of Gleevec/Tasigna serum level testing. My understanding is that Novartis has stopped providing this test free of charge. If you have other concerns, please let me know and I will present them at this meeting. Zavie ----------------------- Dear Zavie As you know, Novartis has a long term commitment to people with CML and other hematological cancers and disorders. We also are committed to developing and maintaining relationships and dialogue with patient advocacy leaders in order to ensure that Novartis understands the patient perspective and incorporates it into all that we do. Since you will be attending the American Society of Hematology meeting in Orlando, Florida next month, I would like to invite you to an informal meeting followed by dinner on Saturday, December 4 to engage in a dialogue about the perspectives and unmet needs of people with CML, including informational needs regarding disease management. I hope that you are able to join me on December 4th and look forward to seeing you in Orlando. Guest guest
Dear Zavie, That sounds cheap the $7,000.00 a year. I am purchasing my stash of Gleevec 400 mgs. pre-ordered once every 3 month of 360 pills in the Novartis sealed bottles. Although the plastic bottles say 100mgs. and 90 pills, I count every time I receive the 3 months worth, and last year I was shorten by 60 pills. Then the last time I open a bottle from Novartis, which was sealed and it again is the 100 mgs. and the bottle stated 90 pills, I had only 80 pills from Novartis. So when you have your conversation from Novartis, asked them if they really know how to count the pills they place in those plastic bottles which are sealed? The cost of my Gleevec, for 360 pills each quarter of the year, is $11,400.00 dollars each quarter. Multipy this by 4 quarters in 1 year, then I wonder who is getting rip off? There was only one response but I understand that the problem is quite serious. Could you send me some practical information as to how the cost of Gleevec affects you and any suggestion as to how Novartis can help. On last Tuesday's chat one of our CMLers said that it cost him $7,000 a year for his Gleevec. Also, if anyone is on the PAP or GIPAP program, could you indicate if this works for you?
