Guest guest
If any of you listend to the Webcam at NCMLS that Greg advised us was at the website, you will remember that Dr. Mauro said that the Araid trial would be starting at all research centers around the globe at the same time. Here is more information on Ariad. Some have asked me for more information, but I have none other than what Beth and Bobby have told us and what is published and posted here. It now has a generic name of " Ponatinib " (all TKI's ending in " nib " , maybe someone will know the answer as to why.) Bobby has been giving us regular results of her visits to MI and she was PCRU from almost the onset. She can fill in with more details. Beth as far as I know was doing extremely well and even Len was doing well. Len was in blast crisis, but Dr. Talpaz took care of her and she is now on the mend. Act swiftly if you are remotely interested, the slots will fill up fast. " ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARIA) announced the initiation of the pivotal Phase 2 clinical trial of its investigational pan-BCR-ABL inhibitor, ponatinib (previously known as AP24534), in patients with resistant or intolerant chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). The PACE (Ponatinib Ph+ ALL and CML Evaluation) trial is designed to provide definitive clinical data for regulatory approval of ponatinib in this setting. Ponatinib has been granted orphan drug status in both the United States and Europe for the treatment of CML and Ph+ ALL. " " With the strong clinical evidence observed to date of hematologic, cytogenetic and molecular anti-leukemia activity of ponatinib in heavily pretreated patients with CML, including those patients with the T315I mutation for whom no current treatments are available, we are highly optimistic about the likelihood of success for ponatinib in this registration trial. We also believe that the time to full patient enrollment in this study and to potential regulatory approval of ponatinib will be swift. Guest guest
Hi Bobby, Hang in there. Let the pros figure out what the problem is and fix it. Be well, Zavie From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of ROBERTA DOYLE Sent: January-12-11 4:49 PM Subject: [ ] Ariad Hi everyone, just wanted to tell you , I am temporarily off Ariad. I have several problems, not all to do with cml, and Ariad. But mainly I have been short of breath, similar to pleural effusion. I am getting a chest Xray tomorrow. Also I am bone weary, honest to goodness fatigued like I have never been. When I do something as simple as load the washer, I have to stop and rest. Never felt this before. tomorrow is Xray, lab work, an ekg, a cat scan. The scan is to see if I have diverticulitis. Have also had a lot of problems with acid reflux. I have been so long with no problems, I am very spoiled, I was on sprycel for 1 1/2 years with no side effects, then got pleural effusion. So although I have had no side effects on Ariad for almost 2 years, I have always had my fingers crossed, and seemed to be waiting for something. Hopefully none of what is wrong is from Ariad, but we will know soon. Guest guest
Bobby, So sorry to hear this! I have another friend in the trial (not on this list) who has been struggling with fluid build-up on her heart. I hope that is not happening to you! I hear ya re the fatigue. Since my rash has flared up, I am struggling with it too. I've been having to nap at work and drink a cup of coffee in the afternoon to get through the day. Are you taking the capsules or the new tiny pills? Maybe it has something to do with the manufacturing. I know a few folks currently struggling with side effects, that just started up in the last couple of months. Hang in there and I know the doctors will sort you out. Guest guest
Hi Bobby. I pray that your condition is not from Ariad. You have been doing so well on it, and I have been happy for you. I hope that they find the cause isn't Ariad, and that you are able to take something that will correct the situation.
