Guest guest
It is called n-acetylcysteine or NAC. I never heard of it until finding that it was in clinical trial for cocaine addiction, then for ocd. But I have learned it is popular OTC supplement(antioxidant?) for many things. I suppose since many people use it OTC it is not known to be harmful, but you never know. You'd want to look at possible interations with other supplements or meds. My daughter is on nothing right now, so I thought maybe it's worth a try. It is for sale at our health food store. It is used medically (through IV I think) to treat aspirin overdose. nancy grace > > Hi, I just wanted to tell you that we went to the OCD conference this > past summer. Guest guest
I am an emergency room doctor and we use NAC for tylenol overdoses. It is quite safe but I have never heard of it being used for OCD. My only concern with trying it is that it smells TERRIBLE- Like rotten eggs. The smell permeates the whole room. I couldn't pay my kid enough to take it even if it solved all the worlds problems. I too though would be interested in hearing if it worked. Guest guest
I had no idea, she'll probably hate it (unless the OTC form covers the smell somehow) she has a problem with fish oil/omega 3 for that same reason.... nancy grace > > I am an emergency room doctor and we use NAC for tylenol overdoses.
