Yes! That's Jo! She and her family moved down to Atlanta back in August. She joined the Floortime Atlanta group. Her son with autism recently got his driver's license. did a presentation at Georgia Tech back in the spring talking about that milestone. It was pretty funny.

Mike,

Do you know if Jo Raphael is from the land/Northern Virginia

area? I used to see a social worker with the same name a few years

ago when I lived in VA. My daughter was going through therapy at The

Spectrum Center at that time & she led a parent group there. She was

so wonderful and I believe had an older son with Autism. Anyway just

curious if it may be the same person.

Wow, small world! I know the last time I met with her (going on

close to 3 years ago) she was sharing all the progress her son had

made & it was very inspirational. At that time we were just looking

into moving to GA & she gave me the names of a few contacts here in

the Atlanta area. She's such a great person!! I don't know if

she'll remember my name since she met with so many parents there, but

please tell her Wendie Horack from The Spectrum Center said hello.

She may remember our story more so than my name. Tell her I was the

mom with twin daughters who both made huge amounts of progress while

doing Tomatis therapy at Spectrum.

Mike,

Good luck with finishing up school & the internship. Floortime was

the first therapy we did with my daughter when she was two & newly

diagnosed. We were living in the D.C. suburbs at the time so we had

access to some great floortime people. I think the Floortime

approach is wonderful & taught me a lot on how to interact with my

daughter. At that time I was lost because she couldn't communicate

at all & had one tantrum after another all day. I was so surprised

at the difference Floortime made for our whole family.

Thanks! I really appreciate your good wishes. Floortime has had a pretty profound affect in our lives too. Enough that I'm changing careers to try to help make the same difference in the lives of others.
