I saw this in a financial newsletter that I think you would appreciate learning.

Now, feel better? I think we can hang around for a long time, just keep this

quote in mind. It is reachable. I have separated them all of the subjects

listed below into groups, so you can read what you are interested in - hopefully

the majority will find something of interest that relates to them:

" Every few years, demographers raise their estimate for human longevity. Whereas

70 years old once signified a rapidly aging body and the early signs of mortal

illness, now 70 year-olds run marathons, chop wood and settle for long

retirements. Ninety is the new 70. And who could complain about that? "

Has anyone ever heard of Dr. Len's Blog? It's located on the Cancercare.org

website. He posted his own article about CML. If you are anything like me, I

gobble up everything I can read about CML, as so often, cancer articles are not

about " us " .

What is interesting is an article from NEJM in 2002. So way back then, this was

the latest news:

" A total of 532 patients with late–chronic-phase CML in whom previous therapy

with interferon alfa had failed were treated with 400 mg of oral imatinib daily.

Patients were evaluated for cytogenetic and hematologic responses. Time to

progression, survival, and toxic effects were also evaluated. "

BTW, Avon along with CancerCare.org assists women for all gynecological cancer

diseases, not just breast cancer. You can contact them here:

1-800-813-4673 (1-800-813-HOPE) (Responds to calls in English and Spanish) I

found this posted at the NIH fact sheet. If you are a needy person or know one,

contact this number.

" CancerCare, in partnership with the Avon Foundation, operates the AVONCares

Program for Medically Underserved Women. This program provides financial

assistance to low-income, under- and uninsured, underserved women throughout the

country who need supportive services (transportation, childcare, or home care)

related to the treatment of breast and gynecological cancers (cervical,

endometrial, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, vulvar). To apply for funds from the

AVONCares Program, download an application form online or contact CancerCare to

receive the application. " BTW their phone number is 800-813-4673. I spoke to

them today and they are very courteous and helpful. I don't know what else I

can do but pick up the phone and dial the number for you. LOL

Note: They provide financial assistance to children/young adults, practical

needs like mortgage, rent, food and transportation.

Much, much more information at these websites for financial assistance:

Financial Help for Cancer Patients Lessens Out-of-Pocket Treatment Costs

Download their booklet: (Presently does not fund CML, but there are others you

may have need of or know someone who does if they can't meet their needs even if

they have Medicare and secondary insurance.) 1-866-55-COPAY (866-552-6729)

I have even run down their tax returns.
