[ ] Lasix and Advair

As I explained to Zavie a few weeks ago, I was having trouble breathing and my

chest X-ray was clear, so I was moved from Singulair to Advair inhalers, which

has already been a big improvement in my breathing. However, I am concerned

about Thrush (I am prone to get thrush), so any advice or suggestions to help

prevent it would be helpful.

Also, I am starting to retain more water and last week I took Lasix and did not

pee once. My PCP said that sometimes, you have to increase the dosage (take two

tablets) to start the process. He also said I should weigh myself and if I gain

two or more pounds on a day, I should take a Lasix, since I am not willing to

take it each day. Again any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Matt, I take Pulmicort (budesonide) and my GP has always told me to rinse

my mouth out after use and do not swallow. I usually time it to when I'm

brushing my teeth and never had oral thrush.

I agree re weighing yourself to check how much fluid you are gaining,

especially since you are on Sprycel with the PE side effects. You may well

have to kick start your kidneys with 2 tabs of Lasix. I can remember when I

was on them with Glivec and sometimes 1 wasn't enough. I agree it is not

optimal and makes life interesting for a few hours in the morning,

especially if there are no toilets readily available when travelling!

Regards

Hi Matt,

Do you drink coffee on a regular basis? If not, then that might work to get you

going. I used to use coffee as a diuretic except when I started to drink it

regularly, it stopped making me pee like a race horse.

Using those little packets of Crystal Lite in a water bottle still works for me

though. The artificial sweetener is known to irritate the bladder and make you

pee so you may want to give that a try as well.

There's always foods like cucumbers and watermelons but seriously, how much

cucumber or watermelon can anyone eat in a day?

Tracey:

I am odd as I cannot stand coffee or cucumbers, but I love pickles. Figure that

one out.

I will increase my intake if watermelons immediately. That is a great idea.
