Guest guest
Hi Avis, not sure what you mean by someone being tossed by AARP. I must have missed a post. I did not think anyone could lose AARP coverage, unless of course they did not pay their bill. I always thought once you had coverage with them, they were " stuck " with you until you quit or died. I am curious, if your cousin Dona has so many severe side effects, has she asked her doctor about changing drugs? Is Dr. Talpaz still her doctor? He is my doctor, I go to the U of Mich once a month. Please post more often it's nice to hear from everyone , no one cares if you repeat things others have posted. Bobby a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.01 11/2009 PCR 0.034 02/2010 PCRU #840 Zavie's Zero Club From: avisallen@... <avisallen@...> Subject: [ ] Ejected by insurance company Date: Friday, October 22, 2010, 11:21 PM  Hi, to all - Did I understand correctly that Jeannie was tossed by her AARP supplemental? Someone wrote not allowed, but I am not sure that particular Obama item has become law. My cousin Dona is very worried about this. She has many problems besides the CML. In the nine months she has been living in an apt. in Minneapolis (her home is Tucson, she has had several $10,000. Medicare bills submitted. For old timers, Dona has had all the side effects since her starting of Gleevec in April 2001. Clinical trial at MDACC with Dr. Talpaz. Sometimes I am tempted to comment on posts in this group, but most of them would be repeats. Her sight about gone, tinnitus so bad, pain, recurrent C-diff (and yes, it was Clindamycin). Hair loss, lots of different rashes(almost sacs size and color of large red grapes between her fingers). Could someone comment on whether I misread the statement of losing supplemental insurance?? Thanks to all. I have read every single email since 2001 and feel I know you all. Avis (Hertz nurtle) Dona Dunn Zavie's list #
Guest guest
These insurances can really confuse you. The best thing to do is to call AARP if you do not understand the statement they sent. Your talking about Medicare with AARP as secondary insurance. I am not on Medicare yet, but I go through these things with my mothers insurance. She gets very confused with it all, and has paid things she did not have to pay. I have to make phone calls to straighten things out sometimes. Its always better to talk to someone in person. I also do not think they would drop you, unless they did not get a payment. Hope you get it all taken care of. Guest guest
Hi Avis, If I remember correctly, it was her Part D drug plan that was dropped and she has to find another plan. I believe a second person said she was dropped also. I'm sorry that Dona is having such a struggle. I will keep her in my thoughts. What a wonderful support you have been for her. Guest guest
Do you know why her drug D plan was dropped? I didn't know they could do that. a ( Bobby ) Doyle, dob 12/17/29 DX 5/1995 Interferon 9 weeks/Hydroxyurea 5 years 02/2000 to 06/2002 Gleevec trial, OHSU 06/2002 Gleevec/Trisenox Trial, OHSU 06/2003 Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial, OHSU 04/2004 Sprycel Trial, MDACC, CCR in 10 months 04/2008 XL228 Trial, U of Mich. 01/2009 PCR 5.69 04/2009 Ariad Trial AP24534 09/2009 PCR 0.01 11/2009 PCR 0.034 02/2010 PCRU #840 Zavie's Zero Club From: ets618 <ets618@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Ejected by insurance company Date: Saturday, October 23, 2010, 9:29 AM  Hi Avis, If I remember correctly, it was her Part D drug plan that was dropped and she has to find another plan. Guest guest
Hi Bobby, I think she said the insurance company she had chosen was dropping the drug plan itself. I'm guessing you're correct that they can't drop individuals. > > > > > > Hi, to all - > > > Did I understand correctly that Jeannie was tossed by her AARP > > > supplemental? > > > Someone wrote not allowed, but I am not > > > sure that particular Obama item has become law. > > > My cousin Dona is very worried about this. Guest guest
Hi Avis I think you're mixing up the groups. Jeannie isn't part of this group, she's on the Google Hope group.
