Thank you for all the warm welcomes. Well i'm not sure lol I have a

three month old baby and a three year old girl, and a 5 yr old boy.

My second child always had an eye thing, which i thought was a lazy

eye, but i guess i was wrong, and the baby has the same eye thing. I

was talking to a WONDERFULL friend (sorry i have to tell her how much

i love her all the time) and she mentioned plagio, so i decided to

look into it and try and learn a little about it. I live in Oregon.

Umm well i guess thats it~! once agian thanks!

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. You certainly found the best place to learn

about plagio! I also came here knowing nothing and now, nine months

and 2 bands later I've even taught classes on it! Feel free to ask

anything, nobody will think of any question as dumb. It's alot to

learn and digest, so ask away! Be sure to check out our photo

before and after section.

There are NO dumb questions here, and if there are, then I already

asked them!! :) I came to this board back in September when my

daughter was diagnosed with plagio and have found the parents here to

be extremely kind, supportive and helpful. I know that you'll find

the same. Please feel free to ask anything at all!

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. Three months is a great age to begin correcting plagio. Do you have any pictures you can post - we love pictures of kids. Have you discussed any of this with your ped?

That's pretty much the way my RA started. I woke up with overall pain, but

not intolerable. I went that day to my doc and he saw what it was even

without blood tests. He knew enough to start treatments but soon referred me

to a Rheumy who wasn't as aggressive as he should have been, but this is all

in hindsight. Now, he's doing well for me and I can get around well enough.

Hi :

I worked with my hands a lot over the years, being a

medical transcriber, and then working with designing

and making jewelry. It was when I was making the

jewelry that I began to feel aches and pains in my

hands and fingers, but put it down to working too

hard. One night, while reading a book, I began to

notice that my bottom thumb joints were becoming very

painful, and thought that I had been reading too long

and the book was too heavy for me to hold like I had

been (it was not that big a book, but that is what I

thought). Anyway, during the night, the pain became

intense in both thumbs, and then spread into my hands,

so much so that I could not open the bottle of Motrin

and had to ask my husband for help.

By the morning, my hands looked like balloons, were

red, hot, and very painful. My doctor took one look,

and immediately put me on Prednisone and Motrin.

After blood work came back with positive RF factor,

she dx RA, and she also started Plaquenil. Yes, it

happened literally overnight, and when I was dx, I was

so shocked. I now know that I probably had the

beginnings of RA for many years, but thought of it as

aches and pains because of my work and that I was

getting older. I was dx at 45. I knew I would no

doubt get " arthritis " , but RA was a complete surprise,

even though my grandmother had RA. I had never

realized just what she had been going through for

years, thinking well she is old and she had

" arthritis " , until my RA dx. It's a world differrent

than just " arthritis " as we all know. She was a very

strong woman and never complained - well, I do lol.

I am glad that your doctor is treating your RA

aggressively - that is so important in getting control

of the disease process. Sorry about your wrist

already being damaged before dx. You obviously have a

very aggressive type of RA, and you are lucky to have

found a doctor who is really helping you. Best of

luck -

Kathe,

Thanks for your response, and I want to respond to

What you wrote to as well as to me.

Have you gotten a second opinion from a good

rheumatolgist?

I don't think I've gotten a good first opinion. A few years back, about 5 I

think I went to see this doctor for several months trying to get my sed rate

down. At first she said it was probably fibro but after being on prednisone for

a few months it was still double the norm. So she replaced the diagnosis with a

" ? " At that time I had much of the present complaints so I think that has been a

big negative for me. So, I had some of these problems before, with an increased

sed rate and it didn't respond to the treatment, so this is just business as

usual. I didn't know how bad her assessment was until my primary care doc gave

me a copy of what she sent him. In essence, no problem found. But she scheduled

another apt. in 3 months. I don't think there is any point in it.

The reason I went to a Rheumatologist this time is sort of involved. I had

developed a severe cough that made me stop breathing sometimes. I went to a

pulmonary doctor and he did a CatScan and quiet a bit of lab work. I have been

exposed to asbestosis. The scan showed multiple nodules in both lungs but that

doctor said that the cough could not be connected to that. He said the cough was

part of an inflammatory process and I should go to the Rheu. He also did a lung

biopsy which was negative for microbes, molds and cancer. The Scan is to be

repeated in 2 weeks from now and hopefully those nodules would have cleared. His

lab indicated to me and I think to him also even though he didn't say so, that I

have SLE or Lupus. I took the lab results to the Rheu and she wasn't familiar

with the test enough to even know what they were. The lab had suggested specific

other follow up test but she did not order any of them but did one test of her

own. She told me I don't have Lupus and didn't mention the SLE. I know Lupus is

not that easily ruled out. I will see the pulmonary doc in 2 weeks and I will

try to get information from him although I think he will be overly cautious

about things outside what he specifically is doing. I also have an apt. with my

primary care before that apt. so I will see what he says. I think when I left

the office when he had given me a copy of her report the impact of her report

had not really sunk in yet. Now it has.

As to Raynaud's there is no doubt in my mind at all that I have it and rather

severely. I recently met a man who does not appear to show the signs as much as

mine does and he has had several amputations, toes, fingers, feet..

My oxygen level cannot usually be taken because " there is something wrong with

the equipment " no matter where or how many pieces of equipment they try. After a

surgical procedure with a light anesthetic

Coming out of the OR the doctor that had been fighting with the O2 level told me

that I had better get the Raynauds seen about. As you know it is not always the

same but it takes very little to make it rear its ugly head.

Sounds like the hand problem could be

related to Raynaud's which is also immune based and

often connected to RA; I have it, but not to the

extent that you describe.

I, too, have severe hip

I find that interesting. Do you have any insight as to any of this? Do you think

that can mean that the problems that we are having now had it's beginning then.

The first money I made on my first job bought a heating pad and that was like

heaven to me.

This sort of thing is best treated by a rheumatologist

who will know the right treatment for you. I am

treated by a rheumy for my RA, OA, Raynaud's and FM,

with medications prescribed for the particular disease

process. She is a great doctor, and really listens to

me, and tries to help.

I think most if not all of my problems would fall in the rheumatology

department. However recent labs have led me to believe that my problems are

autoimmune at the root. That includes diabetes and that makes the diabetes be a

different critter from adult type 2.

Don't ever feel that your pain or your complaints are

not to be taken as seriously as that of others in the

group - we do not judge each other's pain. Please get

a second opinion, and don't give up trying to find out

what is causing your pain. There are good doctors our

there who will be able to help you - keep trying. Hang

in there -

I am reading all the post and getting bits of information. I have written too

much already and I am very tired so I will hang it up for the night. I

appreciate all of you.

Hi -

Wow- you sound similar to what I have gone through.

I had not so drastic a case as you but I started out with knee pains over

the summer of 2004 and then by October, I couldnt walk on my feet. My PCP

diagnosed RA but she couldnt prescrive anything but prednisone. I was

waiting to get in to see a Rheumy and by Feb I was in a wheelchair. My

appointment was for june and luckily my Rheumy rushed me in as an emergency

case.

They tried me on Plaquinil, then Embrel but neither worked. I started

Remicade in May of '05 and it worked really well for me for a while. But I

started having to go in every 4 weeks and by November it had stopped working

for me. It worked for about 10 days and thats it. So I go for my 1st dose of

Orencia tomorrow. I am really excited and hoping that will work. If not- we

go to Rituxin.

I am currently on 80 mgs of prednisone a day- The doc would love to admit me

for prednisone IV's and pain control but the insurance wont pay for it. We

did an IV two weeks ago of 250 mg of prednisone. And then I tapered down on

my pred. But we went back up this weekend. So tomorrow I do another IV of

250mg and start tapering down again.

Anyway- I have heard of great things with the Remicade- I think I am just an

unusual case. Dont base anything on me.

Good luck and welcome.

x per day

and am prescribed 8 Lortab 10mgs per day. I also have taken 40mg oxycontin

but I cant take them and work at the same time.

Wow, 25 years with the company. I am very sorry to

hear that you are being demoted in your job, and it

appears that you feel this is based on your having RA,

and because of job time loss because of various

medical reasons. That must be so hard for you to deal

with - something completely out of your hands has

dealt you this blow career-wise. I'm sorry your boss

is not more understanding.

Dale had a very good idea about contacting Americans

with Disabilities - I don't think that it was right if

you were demoted primarily because of your illness.

There might be things you can do so check it out. I

guess a positive way to look at it is that you still

do have a job. So many have to stop working, or are

fired, because of illness.

I also have cataracts, actually my right cataract was

operated on almost two yeas ago, but I still need to

go through it on my left eye. My cataract surgery

went very well, and I look forward to getting the

other one done some time this year.

You have come to the right place for support - we

understand RA in a way no one who does not have it

can, and I hope that you will find some good friends

here, I know that I have. Hang in there -

Hi cherie ,

the symptoms.Well i had problems with headaches, migraines, ear infections, stomach problems, memory problems, mood swings bad and depression. I had alot of these problems before implants. But i wasnt eating right always on the go.I also was a hairdresser and did nails to.I know alot of my problems started there. Then i got implants so i kept over loading my body. As soon as i starting eating right and taking care of my body i didnt have headaches, migraine s,ear infections, depression mood swings i felt werent as bad.The only problems i seem to have is chemical sensitive.I was sensitive to smell my whole life. But wow ive never had brain fog.I got that in june 2005 when i took on a cleaning job and even using all nontoxic cleaner. It was the people perfume and cleaning a gym that put me over the edge. Now i cant handle anything.i can smell something a mile away and seem to get affected by it. One thing my husband say dont claim chemical sensitivies.ask god to take it from you.But you know i think he hasnt taken it from me because he teaching me to trust him and teaching me so many other things to.I can still function with everyday life. Some people say i appear to not have any problems. I dont seem like i have brain fog.But come in my head .I just thought about this my brain fog has gotten worse over the last couple weeks.

I really think eating organic and not eating white flour and sugar is a must to get better .Sugar is like a poison in the body and my body cant handle it at all .Even maple syrup i react to at time.So honey and stevia is my best bet.I really try to follow phase 1 in the maker diet .This diet is a lifestyle change.

so are you doing to get better?Who explanted you?

I know one thing by getting all toxic products out of my life like cleaners, facial products, soaps all that has helped me alot to. Ive been looking at all that has happened as a blessing .I dont think i would be eating healthly doing all the nontoxic or organic products if this didnt happen to me. I use to be so negative .I have a new outlook on life. Ive met alot of great people on my journey. Im very greatful for that. When you think a door closes another always seem to open.My grandma use to say to me shelly walk by faith not by sight.well it stuck with me im walking by faith not sight.

My husband said to me after i got my implants out wow what a differents. The mood swings i dont have.I deal with things so much differently even when i have a bad day. It like im a different person all around.

I hope i answered your question. My head is fuzzy today.Today i plan to eat right ,drink lots of water and get lots of fresh air and sunshine. The computer really messes with me head. ugh

god bless michele

Miclele,

Any chance you could get hold of an infrared sauna? .

.. . It can really help with detoxing! . . .

Something on the order of 15% of sweat generated by

infrared heat is cholestrol or toxins.

I found that my MCS gradually disappeared . . . I only

react to big exposures now.

Rogene
