Guest guest
Many of us enjoyed the play, Jungle Book! The actors performed beautifully, sharing their gifts of theatre with a very enthusiastic audience. Jungle book at LT performed by actors with disabilities showed exactly how much people with disabilities have to share with their community. The narrator was tireless in her effort to encourage the most from her actors. My son, who would never be interested in stage, he does everything SPORTS, was nearly off his chair watching , he knows many of the actors, with the biggest smile on his face. One of the best evenings I have spent. Congratulations to all the performers and director, etc. Cindi Swanson
Guest guest
Cindi - I would have enjoyed meeting you. It was Josh's first play and I was so nervous. Josh's anxiety can sometimes spiral out of his control and he can respond in so many different ways - some not so pretty. Supporting Josh can be it's own challenge - what works one day won't the next or even later that same day. And here he was going to be ON STAGE. This was a very positive experience for both of us. Rehak-Grohne, the Director, has such a sincere respect for all people and a huge source of energy. Her sister is also an actor and has been participating for the 14 years. We are so fortunate to have this program available to us. told us that about 25 actors with special needs signed up to join next fall. This is part of Lyons Township Adult and Continuing Education programming. Thanks for your kind words, Cindi. Guest guest
This is great news just give it time and as for the sex give it a try if it does not work don't let it upset you. Just keep trying in time you will get there. wantmylifeback85 <wantmylifeback85@...> wrote: Well I have some positive news - I'm not as impotent as I thought I was. I'm in lighter spirits today because of this but I'm not fully celebrating yet as I still need to regain all the muscle mass I've lost. I've lost nearly 10-12 pounds in such little time – the face is the most noticeable. I still have a lingering pain in my groin. The eye floaters/vision problems are still a presence and a nuisance. The depression has lifted a bit - I'm mainly depressed because of all these symptoms. Sleep has improved a bit too. I used to wake up really early in the morning and not be able to get back to bed but now I can get up at a reasonable hour – still lacking the ability to sleep in like I used to though. I'm still going to see the urologist but today is the first day I've felt GOOD in quite awhile. Hopefully things will continue to improve. Guest guest
I'm happy to report that my sleep has somewhat improved as I no longer wake up in the middle of the night and unable to get to bed. I'll wake up an hour before my alarm goes off sometimes but can still fall back to sleep. I started taking ZMA at night to see if that helps any (got some wacky dreams on it). I no longer need Tylenol PM or Ambien though. The first few weeks were a living nightmare. Still can't sleep in till noon like I used to nor do I drool (I used to drool in my sleep all the time before Saw Palmetto). I honestly haven't noticed much change from the Oxytocin nor the Selegiline. Not sure if it's helped my libido at all. I went to the urologist in NYC on Monday and he said it's a waiting game - checked my prostate, was OK. Didn't find anything abnormal even though I pointed out the tissue changes. He said as long as I'm getting nocturnal erections (which I am) that I shouldn't worry, especially since I can get it up for sex. Doesn't think 9 days of SP would cause this much damage, but it's been almost 3 months since quitting. Speaking of which, I had sex for the first time with my girlfriend last weekend since this incident, and I have to say, it was the best sex the two of us had as we both " hit the same note at the same time " so to say. That rarely happened during our relationship so I found that ironic. I didn't have a problem getting it up although I felt my erection wasn't 100%, but still, I was able to have sex successfully without assistance, and hopefully won't have to in the future. I even had time to put a condom on without losing it. Everything was good a few days later when she gave me oral as well. I'm still not getting morning erections but at least I am getting nocturnal ones. Still having numbness issues though and tissue changes are still present. The pain in my groin has slowly subsided – it hurt the most when sitting down since I'm at a cube all day. Masturbation is more of a chore though and I'm trying to abstain from it. I need to make sure my adrenals are OK since my DHEA (especially) and Cortisol is over range. I'm going to get an ACTH Stimulation test and an adrenal MRI. DHEA is through the roof and I want to make sure I don't have Cushing's or an adrenal tumor, etc. Also doing a saliva DHEA/Cortisol 24 hour test (my endo has been great about this). I get lower back pain where the adrenals are located so I'm concerned about that. After I get that straightened out, I also asked for Free T3 and T4 tests to make sure my thyroid is in check. As long as I'm able to get it up for sex I guess there isn't a major sexual problem, though I would like my penile sensitivity, libido, and morning/spontaneous erections back. My depression/anxiety has decreased significantly after knowing that I can at least perform. I'll get bouts of depression, but because of what I'm experiencing, but at least the crying spells have diminished. I want to be who I used to be – a fun guy that likes to drink, outgoing, muscular, be social etc. My appetite still isn't great (but that could be because of the Wellbutrin since I read it can suppress appetite). This week is the best I've felt since this whole thing. The groin pain has slightly diminished (not 100% gone) and I'm not as physically/mentally sluggish. I can actually function at work and school. Hopefully things will improve with time. Maybe switching to name brand Wellbutrin has helped as well (was on the generic before). The wrinkles under my eyes and around my face really annoy me - I didn't have those months ago and may consider creams and/or plastic surgery if they don't go away... it looks weird when I smile now which I don't like though many might not even notice it - but I shouldn't have these aging features at 26. Hopefully my face regains its structure - I lost facial fat around the eyes/cheeks and people notice I lost weight (which I did, but mostly muscle). Face isn't as oily as it used to be but still produces oil, just not as much. Hair is dry and brittle. Some have mentioned sensitivity returning around the six month mark so I'm hoping I'll fall into that category. I can at least know that I don't have 100% ED as I once thought. Still, manual stimulation is tough and ejaculate volume isn't what it used to be. Trying to go to the gym more and regain my lost muscle mass but I've read I won't make gains with over the range Cortisol since it hinders muscle growth. So basically it's my adrenals I need to work on before anything else then take it from there. I have my birthday coming up in a couple of weeks and it may not be as sour as I originally thought it would be. This is the longest stretch (7 days) I have made without crying hysterically (I rarely broke down before this) and hopefully that will continue, because frankly, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I will get an MRI done and an ACTH Stimulation test to make sure I don't have Cushing's or another endocrine disorder. This is utter torture for someone in my age, in my prime, etc. All I know is that I'll be a much stronger person when I hopefully recover from this nightmare. Things have very slowly got better over time. I was literally suicidal the first two months and damn near psychotic. Hopefully more progress will be made. I got morningwood twice within the last month, albeit short-lived, but I'll be doing backflips when it's a daily occurrence. Well I have some positive news - I'm not as impotent as I thought I > was. Guest guest
Thanks Phil, I was having sex with my gf Saturday night but lost the erection when I changed positions and could not get hard again. I was drunk, however, so this may have been a factor. I was able to have sex the next morning OK though. Another thing.... I had a nocturnal emission (wet dream) last Friday. I haven't had one of those since this whole thing started... I take it that this is a positive sign? Well I have some positive news - I'm not as impotent as I thought I > was. Guest guest
Phil, Would my low estrogens be causing any of these problems? I get erections at night but morningwood is still not present as well as spontaneous erections during the day and libido is still non- existent. I will say that a few weeks after stopping SP I did the Broccoli treatment for a couple days since I was freaked out but it may have made my problems worse, though I highly doubt broccoli water would make things worse (my estrogens had to have been high on SP as I did have bigger nipples - they're back to normal size and no signs of gyno.... also all the extra test from SP is aromatized into estrogen). Results again: Estrone (E1) 5.6 (3 - 12.0) Estradiol (E2) 1.6 (0 - 7.0) Estriol 1.8 (1 - 16) Total Estrogens 9.0 (4 -22) Estrogens on the low-end are just as bad as being in the high-end, right? I read that you don't want low E2 as that's bad for the arteries. Anyway, I will be getting results from my adrenal MRI, 24 hour saliva test, and some bloodwork back from my endo tomorrow to shed some light on this matter. I feel like I'm prematurely aging as my face has dried up and there are fine lines below and around my eyes - I now look terrible when I smile. Shippen is going to start putting me on low-dose Ritalin (to raise libido) as well as Testosterone drops (again, for libido). He said to take then 2-3 hours before sexual activity, going to the gym, etc. The muscle wastage is very depressing and I've never seen my wrists so skinny in my entire life - though I'm still able to lift the same amount of weights. I'm not sure if weight training with high cortisol is healthy though. I even tried to lift more and was able to - I bench pressed 235lbs (a first) and I weigh 165lbs (very little body fat, hopefully this remains the same). I'm still perplexed how 9 days could do this to me... Well I have > some positive news - I'm not as impotent as I thought I > > was. Guest guest
Are them labs for your E's saliva if so they are not any good never seen one that was good for sex hormones. I take a Ritalin type drug concerta it's slow release he gave it to me for my fatigue works dam good. If your going to test sex hormones do blood work or 24 urine tests. Saliva are only good for cortisol. People can say what they want but I see a lot of saliva tests for low cortisol and with the test are sex hormones and none are anything at all like a blood test shows. wantmylifeback85 <wantmylifeback85@...> wrote: Phil, Would my low estrogens be causing any of these problems? Guest guest
Hi Deborah! That is wonderful news!!!! Congrats to your son and congrats to you for having the strength to go through another surgery!! How is your pain level right now? Do they think this surgery is going to do the trick for you and get you to a somewhat pain free life? I too have good news for everyone to hear... If you have ready my postings, you know that I had the cervical epidural injection on Wed. Well, I am so HAPPY to report that since yesterday I have ZERO pain!! I can hardly believe it. I am wondering if maybe I am just in a dream or something. I even went for a 10 mile bike ride this morning on the beach. I started feeling the pain a bit after the first couple of miles but I hung in there, came back and put some ice on my neck, and tonight I feel WONDERFUL! No pain killers or anything today!!! :) I am still in shock and am going to hope and pray that my neck will continue to feel like this for a while. I know the shot isn't a permanent fix but if it will help me lead a somewhat normal life for a while, I WILL TAKE IT!! Thank you so much everyone for you love and support. It has been a blessing joining this message board. I tell all of my family and friends about you guys and how wonderful it has been being part of a group of people, strangers that can be so endearing. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend and for all of you sturggling with your pain everyday, you are in my thoughts and my prayers. Hugs and Kisses! From: prodgod1 <prodgod1@...> Subject: Some Good news neck pain Date: Saturday, September 20, 2008, 11:51 AM Hello Everyone, I typically read and only have posted a few times. Aug 26th I have a corrective surgery on C5-C7 posterior fusion etc etc. Almost 4 weeks I am still in recovery but, I am hopefully and wanted to tell everyone! I was blessed to be accepted at the Mayo Clinic Neuro Department. They found I had two broken screws at C7 and thought it best to basically re- do the whole surgery! I have to be in a neck collar for 3 months to make sure the fusion is stable.. That stinks but, the alternative is worse! Also on Aug 21st 5 days before my surgery my 20 year old only son went to the US NAVY for boot camp. He is doing wonderful and have already started growing up and sending wonderful letters. His graduation is Oct 17th and I will be going!!! Thought everyone could use some good news! Deborah
Guest guest
I just saw this from another group and thought it may be of some interest to some of you. By Therese J. Borchard A woman who lives with chronic pain said to my mom the other day, " You can't sit around and wait for the storm to be over. You've got to learn how to dance in the rain. " That's a perfect description of living with depression, or any chronic illness.
