Guest guest
OK people. Hunt has his first cold. He broke out in cold sweats in class and was really nauseous. He has stuffy nose, and congestion. Any suggestions? What should he take? Rosemary
Guest guest
Thanks Joan, that is what his nurse told me also. Now I am just trying to find a good DR in Greensboro. Gaye and nne live there so I am sure they will be able to hook me up with a good one. Rosemary

Guest guest
Hi Rosemarie, I would take him to the doc. to see if he needs an antibiotic.. It may not but if it does the quicker he get them the better. My colds don't usually need them but my throat always seems to give me the most trouble. I invest in every different cough and throat drop I see, they provide some relief. I hope he feels better soon. Guest guest
-Last year I was having the same problem despite the coconut oil . I found cow colostrum gave me the extra boost in my immune system that My body needed. I aam a preschool teacher and all the dear little ones sneeze and cough on me all the time. My resistence was low and I caught everything !Started taking the colostrum and have rarely had even the sniffles since http://www.excellentthings.com It also matters which brand you get. Alot of colostrum is collected ovr aa matter of days.Colostrum should be collected as son after the birth of the calf as possible . this brand is within 6 hours. I buy it in bulk powder form .and mix it with yogurt, a smoothy or just sprinkle it over Goldfish crackers. Guest guest
, Coconut oil is an excellent detoxifier. Sometimes when people starting using it they experience what is called a healing or cleansing crisis. The cleansing crisis is an intense period of cleansing and can have the same symptoms as the flu or a cold. It is possible that the " colds " you were talking about were really cleansing crises. A cleansing crisis is good because it means the body is removing toxins and becoming healthier. Bruce Colds > > > I have read these posts for quite some time. Guest guest
- You'll have to try it and let us know! Doesn't sound like it would work to me, it sounds like it would hurt! The inside of my nose is pretty sensitive. How do you keep it from burning it? I have heard good things about zinc logenzes and have friends who swear by them. Has to be taken at the first sign of a cold or flu. He told me about black elderberry extract and that sure kicks bottom with respiratory symptoms. kathy -- In , Rogene S <saxony01@y...> wrote: > Somebody told me how a friend claims to have avoided > getting colds for thirty years . . . Guest guest
Kathy, I like zinc logenzes and swear by echineacea . . . That was until I got my last cold anyway! I guess the distance from ones nose would depend on how hot the dryer was held. . . They recommended placing the dryer on ones stomach. I'll try it the next time I feel a cold coming on . . .. Hopefully that won't be for a while! Rogene
Guest guest
The ONLY thing that I know of to take for the cold front, is Vit C. When I was first dx with AIH, my GI told me that one of her med school doctors would purchase case after case of Vit C and dole it out to the residents! I did it the first two years after my dx, and it worked for me.....THEN....I stopped, but decided that since I had been so ill this winter from the surgery, etc., that I would revisit the Vit C...now I have been back to work for two and 1/2 weeks, and I am cold free so far...not that I won't get one, but I really do believe that it has helped...there have been several children who have been quite ill with severe colds. For now, I prefer to be a bliever! Debby [ ] COLDS Does anyone know of a good effective over-the-counter cold medicine, day or nite, or both that will be safe to take with liver disease (mine is PBC). I've had several colds and had the flu twice this winter already and have been just suffering thru with the awful symptoms; severe runny nose, congestion and horrible headaches. My doctors are not wanting to give Ok.I too have PBC (Post transplant one still has it).and for colds I take GUAIFENESIN SYRUP, and you are allowed one Tylenol a day at the 325 doseage. For bad cough you need a prescription of a codeine cough syrup with the guaifenesin for bed time or day if is really bad. Use a vaporizer and VICKS under your nose and on your throat and chest. Good luck.this nasty cold is going around. I had it for weeks. Joanne Jj Cathcart jjcathcart@... EarthLink Revolves Around You.
Guest guest
I came down with a cold yesterday. I made some garlic tea and drank in yesterday and I am already on another batch today. My chest is my weak spot (could be due to Candida) and I quite often end up with bronchitis and on antibiotics. I am trying desperately to make sure that this does not happen. Is there anything else that I should be doing to prevent this from getting any worse? I don't want to undo all that I have accomplished over the past month and a half. Thanks. I don't want to undo all that I have accomplished over the past month and a half. Thanks. Hi Les. The most important thing for lungs is plenty of good saturated fats like I recommend. Unfortunately with the cholesterol scam most people have gotten away from eating nature-made saturated fats, and instead consume man-made fats which are toxic and only one molecule away from being pure tupperware. But when those fats are all the body gets, it utilizes these fake fats to construct cell membranes. This makes the cells weak and flabby, and in the lungs that can be particularly bad. Weak and flabby lung cells are not as able to get rid of toxins, and the strength of the lungs is affected so the person can't cough up as well. But of course fats do not work in isolation, so the entire diet and supplements will help strengthen your lungs. I got rid of pneumonia in 3 days drinking lots of garlic tea. Moisture is also important for the lungs, along with supplements like vitamin C, vitamin D, E, & A. You can also take 100,000 IU of vitamin A per day (in addition to your normal daily amount) - take it for a month and then stop taking it for 2 days, and so on for no more than 3 months. I don't think I've written anything specifically for the Lungs, but the information in the Sinus & Nose Treatments article will help you - see the Treatments Folder for it. The best to you, Bee

Guest guest
Hi Meg! Since I began taking Sulfasalazine the past year, I had bronchitis for three months, after two rounds of antibiotics, I finally got better. Then 2 weeks later, had an upper respiratory and sinus infection. Was better for a week or two, then had the flu. I did get my flu shot, but apparently, there were three new strands this year, so many who got their shots ended up getting the flu. Now I have another sinus infection and cold!! From doing research, and asking questions, it seems that some of us do catch a lot of colds. I certainly hope this isn't a year round thing though:) Hope you feel better soon! --- megsbyte <megsbyte@...> wrote: > Hi Gang, > This has been an interesting week. Guest guest
Yes, absolutely. I used to get sick 2-3 times a year, always had sinus issues, and food and environmental allergies. Before I could get on LDN I went to an allergist to find out what I was allergic to, so I could avoid them, that was in Feb and Mar 2003.. Started LDN April 2003. 9/07 I had those allergy tests repeated, ALL my food allergies were GONE, didn't react all. My environmentals didn't change much, still allergic to grass, but not trees. I wrote about it in my story thread, http://www.larrygc.com/mystory As for Colds and illness, I got sick this January, 3 days of 102 fever, first time sick since April 2003. I've been exposed to quite a few sick people in the last few years, caught nothing. The one in January was the 'best sick' I can remember. I just couldn't do much for a few days, stayed in a recliner chair for most of it. So my vote and experience is, less likely to catch other's nasty germs and sicknesses It's so nice not getting sick every few months [low dose naltrexone] colds Does any find they are more likely to get cold or infections while on the medication? ------------------------------------

Guest guest
LDN you mean??? No way!!! I used to always get heavy head colds at least once or twice per year, followed by cold-sore(s) on my lips. In the almost 5 years I've been on LDN I've had one (about 2 yrs ago) which lasted about half as long as usual and the resultant cold sore didn't even get as far as blistering. Most people have similar results. christina beach wrote: > Does any find they are more likely to get cold or infections while on the medication? >
Guest guest
I may have had a terrible low endorphine level prior to LDN. For decades I have had colds that always needed weeks before I started to improve. So 5 years ago I got the first symtoms on that something was going on in my intestines, it took the doctors 4 years to give me a diagnose; Crohns disease. An autoimmune disease. As we know; people with auto immune diseases have lower endorphine levels than other. And if this wasn't enough; 1.5 years ago they discovered a mass in my right kidney. In april last year they gave me a surgery, a partial nefrectomy (got rid of a part of the kidney), - my specialist expected a cyst, but it was a malign tumour. A cancer. Everybody knows by now that if we have a weak immune defency - we may develope serious diseases. LDN is increasing our endorphines up to three times. I have only had one cold in more than one year. It lasted 2 days, and was just a joke. My Crohns is 98% gone. I have had two stress periods since last september, both times I prefered to use low dose prednisone for some weeks in combination with LDN. Both times my flares just dissapeared faster than ever. A Crohns flare may need 4 - 6 months on high dose pred to calm down. I feel safe that LDN also is helping me so the kidney cancer won't return. Guest guest
Does anyone else have a problem getting over colds? The kids shared their cold with me a few weeks back, and it just keeps lingering. I keep thinking I'm pretty much over it, but if I get a bad night of sleep or get worn down, I wake up the next day with the same cough and runny nose. Guest guest
Neal I am sorry I can't remember what you were on Gleevec, sprycel or Tasigna? When I was on Sprycel I got a LOT of colds and that is what finally led to my Plural Efusion. BUT since I have been on Tasigna 2.5 years--I have not had a cold not once. Infact I have not been sick at all!!! I am very thankful!
