Thursday is my MTX day. It's also a pretty heavy work day for me - and now that I've read these posts, I wonder how much of my being completely exhausted by Thursday night has something to do with the MTX rather than my work schedule that day. Duh. Maybe I'll change my dosage day!! Thanks for the heads up.

Sierra, I would check with your doc, but I would think you could take it a day early or a day late. But ask the doc first.

Hi Sierra

When I was on MTX, my doc told me that I could take the drug anytime

within a 24 hour period. Check with your doc of course, but I would

wait until after the wedding to take it so that you still have your

energy and can enjoy it.

Yeppers, I agree too with the other respondents...I take that drug as

well and it wipes me out maybe a couple of days afterward...

zzzzzzzzzzzz, but, yes check with your doc bout taking it either a day

before or a day later...I sometimes do and so far, does not cause me

any ill side effects...

Yea, I get all cranky from it too! Does anyone out there take Enbrel? That stuff gives me such a headache. Tylenol doesn't touch the headache and I am allergic to aspirin, so I'm limited on what I can take. Just curious. ~Spencer <pachelbel1949@...> wrote:

So take 4 tabs one day, and 4 more within 24 hours at rheumy's suggestion. Does anyone else get unusually cranky? I love this list. So reassuring to find others having the same experiences.

Many people, including me, take it at bedtime to sleep through

immediate side effects. I think it's a good idea.

, I take enbrel twice a week: Tues. & Fri. no headaches - but increased appetite - my bedtime pill of elavil also increases appetite - and , of course, prednisone packs on the pounds - I am 25 lbs. heavier than before I started all these drugs - I'll trade you 25 lbs. for your headache - gentle hugs, Marciashelly smiegal <shelsmieg2000@...> wrote:

Sierra,

Shift your dose day. Or if you think you can handle then don't change anything. I frequently shift my dose day which is friday around to accommodate important events in my life.

I may take it Thursday this week and a few weeks later need to shift to a Saturday or sunday cause we have family plans.

Unfortunately I think MTX is one med that people tend to be the most UNcomplient due to side effects and day to day life disruption. Someone had posted a study done on patients on MTX long term that listed how the failure rate for those on MTX was so high and most patients failed to follow the therapy for more than 2 yrs. I certainly can unstand that, cause I hate mine and actually was suppose to restart MTX along with Enbrel and the rest of my meds a week ago. I restarted my Enbrel and remaining meds...but so far can't bring myself around to taking the dreaded MTX injection. I am going to see how long I can survive off this Poison!!!! I really hate this drug and its side effects.

I know there are plenty of people that really get no side effects and they are so lucky. I am not one of those people. I hate the mouth, throat and eye sores, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. I cancelled my last rheummy appnt cause I just didn't feel up to seeing him. when I rescehdule it I plan on telling him where to shove this MTX. I plan to take no more of this. I have been on it for a year and have had enough.

I just recently had weight loss surgery and I am doing well. I do not want to take anything that might make me vomit or nauseated while my stomach is healing. that would really upset me to have to slow my weight loss down.

I take Enbrel and I noticed a slight headache when I started. I have been on it a year now and so far no problems. The headache goes away after time. If you can take Aleve (naproxen sodium) or Motrin that might help. The other thing is drink plenty of water. I have noticed most times if i get a headache its cause I have not drank enough water.

I do get very cranky on MTX. I hate the stuff. But mine is caused from nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, vomiting, mouth, throat and eye sores. MTX is nasty stuff. I plan to call my doc and tell him where to shove this stuff. I have tried for one year and I have had enought now. And yes I am on injections.

Jacy,

What do you call a low dose of MTX? I take 17.5 mg a week via injection.

You've taken folic acid with the MTX and still had the sores?

To my great surprise, I love MTX! I haven't had any side effects at

my low, low dose (other than next-day tiredness)and I'm feeling so

better. Because I've always been sensitive to meds, I thought this

one would really be trouble for me.

Sierra,

With your history of drug reactions, I'll glad MXT is letting you off easy. Congrates! I'm at 20 mg and have been taking it this time since April. This week is the first time I have felt like doing something except for all day napping.

I had chemo in 1999 so my body reacts differently to drugs still.

My doc started me on 2.5 a week then this last week doubled it to 5mg per week in a pill.

I have to start very low and go slow or I can OD very easily.

When I was on MTX I always took it (or injected it) on Saturday

night. That way I had one weekend day to feel good and get things

done, and planned on Sunday as my day to veg out and take a long nap

if I felt like it. By Monday I usually felt back to normal, but a

couple of times had an upset stomach on Monday morning - the doc

said he wasn't sure if it was from the MTX or the fact that it was

Monday.....

Marcia, I have enough weight problems. I just lost 17 pounds now. I tell my doctor that I know it's bad when they go to weigh me and bring out the swinging beef hook. I understand the frustrations. Just like us chunky monkeys having to buy plus size clothes. Plus makes it sound like such an advantage, doesn't it? And why do they make clothes for us fat girls with large print? So we can walk around looking like a large garden? Things I think about! lol~Marcia Stoyle <marciastoyle@...> wrote:

Oh , I know what you mean about the fat clothes. Since being on prednisone, I've really ballooned, and shopping for clothes is a very depressing task for me. There are more women in the plus category in this country than the little bits, but we have so little choice. And the big prints are one of my pet peeves too. I'd have to be 7' to even begin to look decent in some of those things.
