Guest guest
Hi friends, I am on 800mg of Tasigna and probably need to be on that dose for my stubborn cml cells. The first 6 months I had the skin rash and the bumps on the forearms, etc. persist. This last couple of months I have had some steady hair loss (shedding on my jacket and always some in the tub after hair washing)......and now I think I have lost at least 50% of my hair and what I have is really limp. I keep waiting for it to turn around but it is not happening....and I think I will need to start looking for 'cancer type' hats to wear. The only other time my hair was bad like this was when I was on interferon back in 1999, and I only tolerated that drug for 3 months (then went on Gleevec). I know about all the good hair and scalp products. I guess what I am really asking is if anyone else has had hair loss this bad on Tasigna? and has it changed for the better? As a long term side effect this would be the pits. Thanks for any info you can share. C.
Guest guest
Hi Yes you and I have talked before about this. I had and have hair loss. But I am only on 600mg. I have found that if my hair is short it is a lot better. I have hair down to my chin and I also color it because that makes it fuller. I recently started using a shampoo with biotin in it and I think I see a difference. I know how you feel and I too hate it. But mine does come back but as new hair comes back than old still falls out. I have no hair on my legs, or under my arms and other places----but that happened when I was on Gleevec 5 years ago. I also lost my eyebrow and eyelashes on gleevic but when I stopped that it came back, but no on my legs or under arms... I really don't care about that. I wish there was a way for you to maybe going down to 600mg. Is there or is your doctor as stubborn as mine about letting me go to 400. What ever happened to the woman that stopped it all together? I have not heard back from her recently. Has anyone. I can't remember her name. there are also vitamins that you could try that help hair growth. I feel so bad because I know what you are going through. I used to have a very very thick head of hear and I would say I have lost at least 50% of it. Guest guest
Hi , I have been on 800 mg. of Tasigna for 2 1/2 yrs. In the early months I was extremely concerned about hair thinning. After about four months it seemed to stop and grew back nicely. Over the last two years I have noticed thinning now and then, but not constantly. It seems to cycle. My hair may be a little thinner than normal but not noticeably so. I am very thankful that it did not continue and hope it doesn't get any worse than it is. Good luck to you. in NY
