Guest guest
Beth, I know you are wondering where all of this is going. Everything running like clockwork and the next moment you are in limbo. Monday I went to the local oncologist who said I was doing well and to stay the course. Yesterday his office called and said my newest CBC showed that I had a drastic drop in my platelets and to stop the Ariad for a week. Now I have to call MDACC to see what is going on and what do they have for plan " B " . At the moment, this does not seem real to me at all, it's like deja vu. The last trial I was in, ended on the rubbish pile, because the local doctors took it upon themselves to take matters into their own hands without consulting MDACC and for what other reason than some kind of sick pride, I don't know, but it caused me to be kicked out of the trial that finally gave me a grade of CCR (like an A+ in spelling class). I don't want this to happen again, and I will certainly take up arms to prevent it from happening, as this is the last train and it has already left the station. Bobby also has complications, which I don't think are related to Ariad, but she is off Ariad as well. We should all take pause and remember what you said about every day being a single gift. Bobby and I have been around a long time and we have seen many things happen that came and went and lots of changes in drugs, so I hope that this is temporary for all of us. I know that you give thanks every day, as well as Bobby and many other folks do, with all the myriad of diseases that abound the planet, but they are not as fortunate to live in a country where these drugs are available to us and the means to get them is also material. I think you said you are seeing Dr. Shah and I know of his reputation, so I would think he will protect you to the best of his ability and not blow you off as some doctors do, once they have reached the limits of their expertise, such as it is. Some have little to none, only egos. Someone told me he goes shopping in the supermarket with his wife to buy groceries, now that is my kind of man. LOL Ladies of the Ariad trial, let's pick up our tool boxes and get back to work on this giant CML project we are all involved in. We have got to make it work for our fellows as well as ourselves. God bless and may the wind be always at your back, Lottie

Guest guest
Hi Lottie, Thank you for the nice note below and I'm sorry for the long delay in responding. I've been feeling awful, slowly crawling back (and have about 700 e-mails to go through :-)). Been on a drug holiday for about 2 1/2 weeks now. I have a pain in my side so I'm having an ultrasound next week, and I now have high blood pressure. I feel like my body is letting me down at the moment. Yes, I am in the very capable hands of Dr. Shah and he does " have my back. " He really cares about his patients and fights hard for them. (and, yes, he's the kind of guy who would go grocery shopping with his wife). Onward and forward! Beth [ ] Beth's Scourge  Beth, I know you are wondering where all of this is going.
