Guest guest
Shelagh asked the question of processes in other Countries. Interesting. I don't know about you guys, but I have a molecular test on my blood every three months. It's almost as good as a bone marrow biopsy and who want to have too many of them? I wonder if it's widely practiced (molecular testing) or if I'm just lucky because my hospital is attached to the research centre in Liverpool, where they send my blood. Australia Cmlers in Australia have the same procedure. Every 3 months we have molecular testing to find our %. The system is very beauracratic and if your specialist cannot prove that your front line medication is working, then the government will pay for it. Every 3 months - CML blood cancer clients have all our blood testing, not just molecular but all bloods tested free from Medicare. If the government did not pay for these, the costing of bloods would be so expensive that only the very wealthy would be able to have bloods done. We also have a great system for Blood Banks - where people deposit bloods, by donating their blood and people who need bloods for transfusions etc do not have to pay. Goodness what the price of blood products would be. Australia compared to other parts of the world have a very good system but like all systems can be improved.
