Guest guest
Thanks Cindi. Sometimes I think I am nuts and maybe am developing some kind of mental disorder. How has your treatment progressed ? Did you have surgery? I am so glad that I have found all of you. Do you sleep sitting up? I have bought a 10 inch wedge and it has helped. I am at a loss as to what to eat or drink. Despite 2 aciphex a day I vomit up food mixed with mucous. In my bowel movements I have mucous. I am not thowing up in public right now. THANK GOD! What tips can you give me? I dwell on all of this a lot. I am trying to have a good attitude. I am 65 and have been lucky to have gone this long without anything serious. I just took some pain reliever, so maybe I can get out later. Poison ivy season is much longer for people living in the south, LOL. I just made it in anticipation of the season. I didn't think I'd be able to infuse jewelweed in oil or dry it, given its water amount, so I infused it in water and froze that. Then, I read that freezing the plant would yield good " juice, " once it was thawed, so I did that, too. I don't know whether cp would destroy its properties or not, but it tested well, so I hope not! It's all fun, isn't it? I have some egg yolks and cream left from a dessert I made, so I want to make more soap. Lemon meringue is next if I can get to it. I can tell I was not put on this earth to be a nurse because I am so stressed over having 3 sick kiddoes and am just glad that 3 have left the nest already, otherwise, it would be 6, LOL. Guest guest
Hi, Yes, Dr. Blais did describe it as being very large and mature indicating that it had been there very long. I'm going to call Dr. Blais to see if I can get the implants and capsules back and have it analyzed. Can't believe my doctor never mentioned it! The test you are talking about, I believe is a CBC. I've had one taken several times. The last one was November 2nd but that doesn't mean that I'm clean of cancer. Alot of people get this test and don't know they have cancer until it shows up on an x-ray or MRI. I'm just worried, that is all. Thanks for the support, Beth S.Rogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: Beth,I can't believe your doctor didn't see the tumor! . .. Maybe it was very small? Did Dr. Blais say what sizeit was? I think they can do a blood test that shows if thereare cancer cells in your body. It doesn't identifywhere, but it's a good first indication. . . maybesomeone here will remember the name of the test.I agree with Kathy that you should start looking atalternative treatments that may help. That is wonderful.. minus 30 lbs. to me is ALOT.. Yes, I plan on small changes at 1st, no sense in going all out big things, knowing full well it wont work for me that way.. how much water are we supposed to drink and is there 'too much' drinking water? I have a problem with retaining water, so am curious if theres a point where its too much.. also, with all this water I will be drinking, does it actually get rid of water as well off your body? The physcian gets one call prior to pt discharge for TF orders (we found that numerous calls were made for a change ifn formula, a pump, inadequate documetation, etc). I partnered with social work and home health to facilitate the process. The doctors and nurses love it. I will attach now and upload to the files section if there is an interest. To reference the "category" formulas, Novartis and Ross have literature outlining enteral feeds. P.S. I apologize that the form looks a little strange as the boxes to check look like crazy lines. There are several great infusion companies nationwidethat can take care of TPN, or tube feeding. The insurance company needs totake care of the expenses- most will as long as there is properdocumentation that the patient can not take food/fluids po. I suspect ifyou send the patient home prior to starting tube feeding with the "Walmart"nutrition approach he will be readmitted in a very short period of time.Rita , RD, LD/NClinical Nutrition ManagerMemorial Hospital of TampaNOTICE: This email may contain PRIVILEGED and CONFIDENTIAL information andis intended only for the use of the specific individual(s) to which it isaddressed. I worked as a nutritonsupport RD at a home pharmacy before getting into baraitrics. Thesurgeon may be opening up a big "can of worms" for this guy!Why are they discharging him with an ng tube? Has he been toleratinga formula prior to d/c? From my experience, if he has insurance and aproper dx (anastomic leak), his formula ahould be paid for byinsurance. Check with the d/c planner to see what home healthbenefits he may have. Using a Walmart brand formula is not the rightapproach and could result in dumping syndrome big time!! I alwaysrecommend something isotonic or semi-elemental for bariatric patients. Also, how long will he need the feeds? This is important to knowbecause if insurance pays for it, he could go home on cyclic TPN untilthe leak is resolved. I think you may want to talk to both the d/cplanner and the surgeon to set up an appropriate d/c plan for thisguy. You can call me if you need any further assistance. Please excuse my ignorance. Most people who are not English majors do not differenciate, however, so when saying all English words beginning with C have a hard sound - it is not understood as an educator might, and particularly for one learning English for the first time.
