Guest guest
Hi Amy, That's great! Our son was similar, with a response almost right away. The OCD does come in waves, so sometimes this can be part of it too. Re CBT, since medication is rarely the answer it is usually needed still. Sometimes it works so well though that there's nothing much to work on and then usu they suggest lowering the dose. Ultimately they need to learn how to manage the OCD, the med gives an assist. Guest guest
Ditto on what Barb said. I sure understand the checkbook needing a break though. We spent until our saving was gone. ( There's nothing cheap about qualified help. Most aren't lucky enough to find someone who is in-network, or willing to work with insurance companies. Glad the meds are helping, Amy. Guest guest
--- Just wanted to add that e had an experience of taking my daughter (8) to therapy for two years weekly and it did not work. once they found the right meds, it worked fast, and we stopped counseling as it was breaking us. She now is seen by a free county provided pscyhologist at school and is checked monthly by an outside counselor as well as monthly med checks. a whole lot cheaper. good luck.
