Guest guest
I didn't know either. Luckily, I stopped taking it regularly a year ago, and haven't refilled in at least 6 months. Like you, I can't tell any difference when I'm taking it. All of this makes me wary of trusting the doctors. [ ] Nexium Use Very good information, and good to see you posting again. From what I gather, several of us have had computer problems, so let's hope that is behind us so we can start posting again. I took Nexium for years and never knew about the counterindication until last week. I stopped taking it because my drug costs were over the top and I thought I would try to see how I would react if I opted to stop some of the drugs. Well lo and behold, I had no adverse effects from stoping Nexium. Goodbye Nexium, I don't even miss you. LOL I am not advocating everyone do what I did, but further investigation may be in order if you are taking it and a good consult with a specialist who carries a little Palm and checks it out before he gives you a prescription. Sometimes I challenge my doctor and he gets his really big book out and checks it out, only to find I was right. Healthcare is not only for professionals, it is for patients, too, so do whatever you have to do to become informed. Use a search engine or ask someone who does. Guest guest
My G I drs wanted me to take Nexium but it made me sick to my stomach and gave me a headache. They gave me Aciphex instead, do you know if it's ok? I am suppose to take it every day but I don't, only when I have acid really bad. I should take every day cause of something they saw when they did the endoscopy but I forget to.                                        Dee ________________________________ From: Lottie Duthu <lotajam@...> CML < > Sent: Wed, January 26, 2011 1:52:46 PM Subject: [ ] Nexium Use  Very good information, and good to see you posting again. Guest guest
Hi Lottie, When we take Nexium, we have to check the magnesium level regularly. 'Use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) regularly for a year or longer may lead to low levels of circulating magnesium, which may increase the risk of leg spasms, arrhythmias, and seizures, according to an FDA warning.' Guest guest
Hi: Been dealing with some other problems, and have not felt like getting on to read or post much. I saw the Nexium post, and I have been taking Nexium since sometime in 2000 due to the Gleevec giving me terrible GERD. I am still on it, and have been fine as far as I know. Its 10 years now for me. I do get side effects to this day from the Gleevec which include the foot spasms, nausea, anemia, etc. I just keep doing it because I have been PCRU now for 7 years, and afraid to make any changes. My concern now is dealing with this DVT and it seems like I have been sick from the Coumadin. Have to go for a Gallbladder Ultrasound to be sure its not my Gallbladder acting up. That is another whole subject. > > > > Very good information, and good to see you posting again.
